Maine Travel Guide (USA) - The Nubble Lighthouse in York
Take a tour of Nubble Lighthouse in Maine, United States -- part of the World's Greatest Attractions series by GeoBeats.
Sitting atop an islet on lush green grass and lovely landscape is The Nubble Lighthouse.
Officially known by many as Cape Neddick Lighthouse, this beautiful yet simple structure is considered by many to be exemplary lighthouse.
The tower, made of cast-iron and lined with red-brick, is approximately 41 feet in height.
In 1874 Congress approved the 15,000 dollars it would take to build this lighthouse.
A photograph of this lighthouse was even put in the Voyager Spacecraft, whose mission is to provide information about our world to any possible extra-terrestrials.
Set amid the deep blue waters of the Atlantic Ocean on a small yet enchanting island with a pleasant coastline, this charming lighthouse is surely picture-perfect.

Maine
In this episode of Cheap Family Travel ( Nick Regan, Maggie, and Kate visited the Maine coast. When on the East Coast, Cheap Family Travel made a trip to the state of Maine, with stops in Ogunquit and Portland, Maine. We played in the tide pools along the Maine beaches, visited the Portland Head Lighthouse and Two Lights State Park, and learned about lobster fishing on a lobster boat. Next we walked the streets of Portland and visited Longfellow's house and the Whaling Wall. Maine travel wouldn't be complete without trying real Maine lobster so we stopped in at Gilbert's Chowder House. The Maine weather was beautiful. So if you're looking for the real East Coast experience, Maine family vacations can't be beat.
