Detroit, The USA's Cheapest Houses
American Roadtrip
Watch our other Detroit videos including an interview with Pinky about urban farming
I interviewed Pinky Jones about MUFI, the Michigan Urban Farming Initiative. She had just bought a house in the same North End Detroit neighbourhood as the Urban Farm for $3,000. In this video she takes us for a short tour of the two story, 6 bedroom, 2 bathroom, 2 kitchen property. Pinky bought her house with her brother at a Detroit City Tax Auction. Detroit City has auctions of vacant homes as a result of tax lien foreclosures, in which homeowners failed to pay their property taxes and other municipal fees. Pinky and her brother are yet to get Utilities and Water connected in their new home. Pinky believes many in Detroit have trouble paying these bills and many go without heating, electricity and water, even through the harsh Michigan winter.
Many Beautiful historic homes are available in Detroit for very cheap prices. Many DIYers buy houses and surrounding vacant blocks to grow urban veggie gardens. Detroit is becoming quite a hub for young artists, attracted by the cheap rents and properties, and the unique post industrial landscape. UAW BLACK LAKE - Area Attractions
uawblacklake.com
The Center's prime location is a gateway to some of the region's most popular area attractions.
Onaway is a sportsman's paradise and a nature lover's dream. The area is home to thousands of acres of northern Michigan state forest recreation areas, fishing, hunting and inland lakes. The city is surrounded by thousands of acres of Mackinaw State Forest, and the scenery is breathtaking. Watching leaves change as the seasons fold one after the other, is a worth the time spent at the Center.
Onaway is an all-season, inside and outdoor, recreation destination. It's also just a short jaunt from Burt Lake, Mullet Lake and Michigan's popular Inland Waterways. Onaway is only five miles from its namesake's state park and Black Lake, which is teeming with excellent walleye, bass and perch fishing.
Located in the northeast, lower-peninsula of Michigan, Onaway sits on the western edge of Presque Isle County and is just a short drive from Black Mountain State Forest Recreation Area, Ocqueoc Falls, Petoskey, Charlevoix, the Mackinac Bridge and so many other area attractions. It is 18 miles east of I-75, 22 miles west of Lake Huron, 45 miles southeast of the Straits of Mackinac and 265 miles north of Detroit.
The Black Lake Golf Club is a premier course designed by architect Rees Jones.
While many courses have two or three so-called signature holes that are worthy of brochure status, every hole at Black Lake Golf Club could easily be on the cover of a magazine promoting the course.
That is one reason it was ranked 34th in Golf Digest's
100 Greatest Public Courses in America in May 2009 and ninth in the Best Value
category.
Night Life
Our guests are encouraged to visit the Center's onsite local watering hole, Mazey's. Whether you just want to enjoy a nice cold adult beverage, or participate and/or host in a sing-along in the bar's classroom -- that's right, every inch of Black Lake is educational! -- or dance the night away during the DJ-hosted nights, Mazey's door is open to guests and visitors. Limited shuttle bus service is available to guests for transport. Leave the driving to us. We've got you covered.

Arches National Park is a United States National Park in eastern Utah. The park is adjacent to the Colorado River, 4 miles (6 km) north of Moab, Utah. It is home to over 2,000 natural sandstone arches, including the world-famous Delicate Arch, in addition to a variety of unique geological resources and formations. It contains the highest density of natural arches in the world. The park consists of 76,679 acres (119.811 sq mi; 31,031 ha; 310.31 km2) of high desert located in the Colorado Plateau. Its highest elevation is 5,653 feet (1,723 m) at Elephant Butte, and its lowest elevation is 4,085 feet (1,245 m) at the visitor center. Forty-three arches are known to have collapsed since 1977. The park receives on average 10 inches (250 mm) of rain a year. Administered by the National Park Service, the area was originally named a National Monument on April 12, 1929. It was redesignated as a National Park on November 12, 1971.
Humans have occupied the region since the last ice age 10,000 years ago. Fremont people and Ancient Pueblo People lived in the area up until about 700 years ago. Spanish missionaries encountered Ute and Paiute tribes in the area when they first came through in 1775, but the first European-Americans to attempt settlement in the area were the Mormon Elk Mountain Mission in 1855, who soon abandoned the area. Ranchers, farmers, and prospectors later settled Moab in the neighboring Riverine Valley in the 1880s. Word of the beauty of the surrounding rock formations spread beyond the settlement as a possible tourist destination.
National Monument and Park
The Arches area was first brought to the attention of the National Park Service by Frank A. Wadleigh, passenger traffic manager of the Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad. Wadleigh, accompanied by railroad photographer George L. Beam, visited the area in September 1923 at the invitation of Alexander Ringhoffer, a Hungarian-born prospector living in Salt Valley. Ringhoffer had written to the railroad in an effort to interest them in the tourist potential of a scenic area he had discovered the previous year with his two sons and a son-in-law, which he called the Devil's Garden (known today as the Klondike Bluffs). Wadleigh was impressed by what Ringhoffer showed him, and suggested to Park Service director Stephen T. Mather that the area be made a national monument. The following year, additional support for the monument idea came from Laurence Gould, a University of Michigan graduate student (and future polar explorer) studying the geology of the nearby La Sal Mountains, who was shown the scenic area by local physician Dr. J. W. Doc Williams.
A succession of government investigators examined the area, in part due to confusion as to the precise location. In the process, the name Devil's Garden was transposed to an area on the opposite side of Salt Valley, and Ringhoffer's original discovery was omitted, while another area nearby, known locally as The Windows, was included. Designation of the area as a national monument was supported by the Park Service from 1926, but was resisted by President Calvin Coolidge's Interior Secretary, Hubert Work. Finally in April 1929, shortly after his inauguration, President Herbert Hoover signed a presidential proclamation creating Arches National Monument, consisting of two comparatively small, disconnected sections.
The purpose of the reservation under the 1906 Antiquities Act was to protect the arches, spires, balanced rocks, and other sandstone formations for their scientific and educational value. The name Arches was suggested by Frank Pinkely, superintendent of the Park Service's southwestern national monuments, following a visit to the Windows section in 1925. In late 1938, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed a proclamation which enlarged Arches to protect additional scenic features and permit development of facilities to promote tourism.

Visiting Gatorland, Wildlife park in Florida, United States
Gatorland is a 110-acre (45 ha) theme park and wildlife preserve located along South Orange Blossom Trail in Orlando, Florida. It was founded by Owen Godwin in 1949 and has been privately owned by his family since then. Billed as the Alligator Capital of the World, Gatorland features thousands of alligators and crocodiles, a breeding marsh with boardwalk and observation tower, reptile shows, aviary, petting zoo, swamp walk and educational programs. The park is known for buying and rescuing nuisance alligators from trappers that would otherwise be killed for their meat and skin. The Breeding Marsh area of the park was used in the filming of the 1984 movie Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. For more info, visit this:

Places to see in ( Indianapolis - USA )
Places to see in ( Indianapolis - USA )
Indianapolis is in the Nine-County Region of Indiana, right at the center of the state. It is the state capital and largest city of Indiana, United States, and is in Marion County. The population within city limits is approximately 830,000 people, making it the 12th largest city in the US. The metropolitan area has about 2 million (23rd in the US). Indianapolis is also known as the Racing Capital of the World due to the proximity of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, home of the Indy 500 and Allstate 400 at the Brickyard (formerly known as the Brickyard 400).
The name Indianapolis is simply Indiana joined with polis, the Greek word for city. The founders of Indianapolis expected it to be the Great Inland Port, but they neglected to consider the fact that the White River is impossible to navigate most of the year; other than during the spring, it is a melange of sandbars and temporary islands. However, this port-desire left the city with a beautiful, if useless, canal district.
The tallest building in Indianapolis is the Salesforce Tower, standing at 830 feet. The second is the One America Tower standings at 533 feet, and the third is the One Indiana Tower standing at a height of 504 feet. The fourth and fifth are the Market Tower (421 feet) and 300 North Meridian (408 feet). The sixth and seventh tallest are the M&I Plaza (401 feet), and the seventh tallest is the JW Marriott Indianapolis (376 feet): the JW Marriott Indianapolis is the tallest hotel in the state and the largest JW Marriott in the world.
Clean-cut Indy is the state capital and a perfectly pleasant place to ogle race cars and take a spin around the renowned speedway. The art museum and White River State Park have their merits, as do the Mass Ave and Broad Ripple hoods for eating and drinking. And fans of author Kurt Vonnegut are in for a treat. A swell walking and biking trail connects it all.
Indianapolis is called the Crossroads of America. The city is warm in the summer, with average highs in the mid-80s in June, July, and August. Indianapolis has a typical mid-western winter. January is the coldest month, with an average high of 34 degrees.
