Kanali is a seaside village and a community in the Preveza regional unit, northwestern Greece. It was the seat of the former municipality Zalongo. The community consists of the villages Kanali, Kastrosykia, Mazi, Nea Thesi and Pidima Kyras. Kanali is situated on the Ionian Sea coast, 13 km north of Preveza. The village Kastrosykia, 6 km northwest of Kanali, is the location of a city of ancient Epirus, probably of a port of Cassope.

  • 2. Monolithi Beach Kanali
    Monolithi is a big sandy beach, in west coast of Preveza Prefecture, Greece. Total length of the beach is 25 km. So, it is the longest sandy beach of European Union, The name Monolithi comes from Greek roots Μόνος + Λίθος = single + stone. It was an oversea rock 10X10m, near the coast, until year 1942, when German and Italian soldiers destroyed the rock with mortar fire. A photograph before 1942 is available. Today the rock exists as an undersea reef .

Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Ioannina, of which it is a municipal unit. It lies about 4 km north of central Ioannina.
