Keralamkundu waterfalls is a natural wonder in the valley of western ghats, that is formed due to the cascade on a large rock over many centuries. There is no other place in Kerala to enjoy and feel the adventures in its fullness for those who really love adventures. To see the flow of medicated water flowing from the western ghats forests, forming a water falls and flowing into a huge stone pit, is a must for each tourist. This Keralamkundu waterfalls is situated in a beautiful village called “Kalkundu” in Nilambur thaluk, which is in Malappuram district. Besides this Keralamkundu waterfalls there are sceneries like Koombanmala, Kodimala waterfalls, Chenchilappara, Swapnakkundu waterfalls, British Bungalow, world’s largest mango tree, which invites tourists towards here. It is certain that there are no other village in this world like this which is admired by tourists due to its varieties. From a place which is one the most amazing archaeological built ups (CHAMPANER) we moved forward to a place of most exquisite forests. A place so exquisite that no wonder, it is mentioned as Painter's Palette in several literature.
Yes, we are talking about Jambughoda! About 30kms from Champaner, there lies a little town by the name JAMBUGHODA. Surrounded by lush green forests, this town is centre of JAMBUGHODA WILDLIFE SANCTUARY. The forests of here are full of teak and mahuda trees, bamboo, and other lush vegetation, Jambughoda is home to large populations of many kinds of wildlife.
After a brief sleep at a Camp on the bank of river, we start up exploring the meadows of Jambughoda! At around 8.00 am in the morning we board a rickshaw, which offered us a complete package! The places around Jambughoda are least accessible through public transport, so to be on a safe side, make a safe side! So if you are on own, board a Rickshaw, that's pretty advisable, no doubt the lush forest will tempt you to walk on feet! But lets not rush into it, we did that too!
A drive into the forest about 3 kms off road, takes us to Jhand Hanuman Temple. Not only special for devotees but also the epic follower and pre-history believers will feel attached here. Because jhand hanuman temple has its roots attached to greatest epic of Indian mythology, MAHABHARATA! Pandavas are believed to have stayed here.

As we explored around the temple, not only that temple is unique not only for its horizantly laid idol of lord hanuman, but also the forest around is catchy! How about a little hike around ;)
The waterfall at Hathni Mata, hidden amongst the shaded green hills, is a sight to behold. The cave, which houses a temple with a rock shaped like a seated baby elephant is definitely worth a visit. Fun fact: Hathni Mata name is derived by locals from a Rock just below the waterfall which looks like a baby elephant!
Bathing in the open natural endowment, hilly rocky mountains to climb upon and a scenic waterfall of about 100mts of height, made the our visit to hathni mata totally worth it!
Hathni mata waterfall is situated at a very remote location with no public transport available! Though we had to take about a 10kms of walk, we didn't regret!
