HD Capture of Vathi Beach,Thassos,Greece-Η Παραλία της Βάθης στην Θάσο
This lush green bay hides a beautiful small beach with crystal blue-green waters!
Since the access to the beach is not very easy, it doesn't get crowded and Vathi remains unspoilt and is ideal for those seeking tranquility.
This tranquility can be disturbed by the tourist boats that stop over to the beach (but only for about one hour).
Bring with you water and supplies, since there are no bars or canteens in close proximity.
Access: By tourist boat or car. Vathi is located at the northeastern part of Thassos, south of the amazing Saliara beach. You will first have to pass by Saliara and then continue following every junction of the road towards the sea and not the mountain. You will find plenty of parking spaces close to the beach. Keep in mind that the track road needs attention (or even better a 4x4).

Along the borders of Turkey 1/4 - The gate to Europe: Greece
Episode 1 - The gate to Europe: Greece
The border between Greece and Turkey is the most used crossing point for the refugees on their way to Europe. Hundreds of them risk their lives everyday again, even if once they manage to get there, a new type of crisis is waiting for them.
Bram Vermeulen travels Along the borders of Turkey. With the Europe collapsing on one hand and shattering regimes in the Arab world on the other hand, the Turkish influence in these regions will grow. Here the new power relations around the Mediterranean are being drawn. In this exploration conducted by Bram Vermeulen, we learn as much about the Turks as we do about ourselves. The boundaries make the countries and not the other way around. Borders define the country: this is where our domain ends and the domain of others begins. Turkey is a border country. A country that defines itself as cramping from its contrast with its neighbors. Turkey is non-Greek, non-Russian, non-Arabic. Turkey is the twilight zone between the Middle East and Europe.
Bram Vermeulen travels in four episodes Along the borders of Turkey. Here the new power relations around the Mediterranean are being drawn. Big developments with huge consequences for the people living there. Vermeulen enters the twilight zones: Greece, Cyprus, Syria and Iraq, looking for the actual dividing lines between these neighboring countries.

Traditional Japanese Breakfast at a Ryokan in Takayama, Japan
Come join us for a traditional Japanese breakfast at Ryokan Seiryu in Takayama, Japan where we enjoy a delicious spread of Japanese food items. Normally we don't eat massive breakfasts but when an enormous spread of delicious Japanese cuisine is spread out in front of us, we're more than willing to make an exception.
In terms of drinks for breakfast, we enjoyed fresh squeezed orange juice and traditional Japanese green tea served in a lovely decorated pot. In terms of Japanese dishes we had the following items for breakfast:
1) Raw egg served in a bowl
2) Whitebait fish with radish served in a box
3) Pickled fruits including apricots
4) Tofu served with a water chestnut
5) Pickled vegetables
6) Red radish
7) Fish paste
8) Greens
9) White rice
10) Miso Soup
11) Green salad with a mustard and sesame dressing
12) Hida beef
Our Ryokan breakfast was amazing. In fact, it was hands down our best and most complete breakfast we had while traveling in Japan. Some of our favorite breakfast items included the Hida beef, miso soup and tofu served with water chestnut.
If you have an opportunity to try a complete traditional breakfast like this in Japan we highly recommend it. Unlike a normal Japanese breakfast where you have a bit of tofu, fish, rice and miso soup this breakfast featured a spread of food that would be more typical of a large lunch or dinner. Have you tried a traditional Japanese breakfast before? What was your experience like? Let us know in the comments section below.

Traditional Japanese Breakfast at a Ryokan in Takayama
Hey guys! We are Samuel and Audrey, a vlogging travel couple from Canada. In this travel channel we share our travel and food vlogs while touring the world. Our most recent trip was to Japan where we spent 2 months traveling around the country and visiting the following destinations: Osaka, Tokyo, Kyoto, Nara, Nikko, Takayama, Yokohama, Odaiba, Shirakawa-gō and Takao.
During our stay, we visited a mixture of big cities and small rural towns, where we enjoyed eating Japanese street food, trying traditional Japanese cuisine, visiting local attractions and staying in unique accommodations (such as capsule hotels and ryokans) that we are now going to share with you on this channel. The combination and contrast of visiting futuristic cities and traditional countryside areas is what makes travel to Japan so fascinating. Ultra modern versus traditional. This is the essence of Japan.
Our trip to Japan was unforgettable and until now it is one of our favorite countries that we have come to know. However, we only feel as though we just scratched the surface on this trip to Japan. If you want to see more videos from Japan in the future, let us know in the comments that places you'd like us to travel to and food experiences you would like to see on this travel channel.
Have you traveled to Japan before? What was your experience like? Please share your Japan travel tips, advice and experiences in the comments below.
Thanks again for watching our Japan series! Until next time!

The Incredible Story of the Miraculous Icon Panayia Soumela
St. Luke the Evangelist (Apostle Luke) painted several Icons of the Holy Mother of God. One of these is Panayia Soumela. According to the tradition, the icon is older than the Monastery, and was originally kept in Athens entitled “Panayia Atheniotissa” (Panayia of Athens). The icon of Panayia Soumela took its name from the Monastery of Soumela in Asia Minor. The name “Soumela” derives from the phrase “Stou Mela”, meaning “at the Mt. Melas”, pointing to the specific place in Pontos, in the Black Sea region.
An incredible story revolves around the existence of the Icon. During the reign of Theodosios, a priest in Athens had a vision where the Mother of God told him that he and his nephew, a deacon, should become monks. Tonsured with the names Barnabas and Sophronios the two men went to venerate the wonderworking icon; upon kneeling in front of it, they heard the voice of the Mother of God telling them to follow Her eastwards to Mount Melas. At the same time, angels appeared and lifted the Icon up in their arms.
The Icon returned to Athens few years after the destruction of Asia Minor and was kept in the Benaki Museum until 1952. In our days, the icon is kept in the monastery of Panayia Soumela, southwest of Veria, in the village “Kastanies” located on the slopes of Mt. Vermion. The monastery was founded by Pontian Greeks who had the desire to build a new church for Panayia Soumela in Greece. Strangely enough, in this monastery, there are no monks or nuns; its only visitors are pilgrims and tourists.
The Dormition of the Virgin Mary is celebrated with two-day events attended by thousands of visitors, mainly of Pontian origin from Greece and abroad. Political and state leadership also participate in the celebrations. Great Vespers and Divine Liturgy service are held at the holy monastery with grandeur and devoutness.
