Russian culture is an hybrid generated from habits of many civilizations that shaped this great multicultural state, and it is the result of its development for several centuries, being deeply rooted in the culture of the first eastern slavs.

Fabergé House: it is a jewelry house founded in 1842 in St. Petersburg by Gustav Faberge, using the name Fabergé. His son Peter Carl Fabergé ruled the house at his death till it was nacionalizated in 1918.
Fabergé Eggs: created by Carl Fabergé and his artisans for the russian tsars. Russian Easter Eggs. Among the materials used there are metals like gold, platinum, silver, copper, nickel, palladium, steel... that were combined in different proportions to get the colors. Other technique is the guilloché, engraved work in the metal to create waves or symmetric draws. Many eggs included minerals like jasper, malachite, rhodonite, rock crystal, lapis lazuli, jade... Also precious stones like sapphire, rubies or emeralds, even diamonds. Other semi-precious stones used are moonstones, garnets, olivines and mecca stones.
Fabergé Animals: different little animals made of various minerals like chalcedony, jade...

Matrioshka: traditional russian dolls that come from Japan created in 1890. They are dolls into dolls. The name of the dolls can go from five to the number you want, usually being rare more than twenty. They are multicolored. The matrioshka with more dolls has 75 dolls.

Background

With the commencement of the First World War in 1914, the policies of Governments in Europe were obsessed with hate and suspicion and were blinded with powers of obstruction and resistance in their hands. The war became an inferno round and about the world, causing losses both to victors and vanquished out of all proportion to the issues.

The armies were millions strong and behind them entire population were organised for supply of food and munitions to the front. There was cessation of every sort of productive activity except such as contributed to military operations. All the able-bodied manhood of Europe were drawn into the armies and navies or into the improvised factories that served them. There was an enormous replacement of men by women in industry.

Probably, more than half of the people in the belligerent countries of Europe changed their employment altogether during this stupendous struggle. They were socially uprooted and transplanted. Education and normal scientific work were restricted or diverted to immediate military end, and the distribution of news was crippled and corrupted by military control and propaganda activities.
