Kottayam is one of the 14 districts in the state of Kerala, India. Though the district is 65 km south to Kochi, it is located in an area with biggest diameter and population. It is the only district having no border with either the Western Ghats or the Arabian Sea. Kottayam City is also known as Akshara Nagari and Chuvar Chitra Nagari .Kottayam is known as the city of three 'L's - Literacy, Lakes and Latex.     Illikkal Kallu is a major attraction in Moonnilavu village of Meenachil taluk in the Kottayam district of Kerala, India. Situated 6000 feet above sea level, Illickal Kallu is a rock situated above Illickal Mala. What makes this rock unique is that half of the rock has fallen off, and only the other half remains. The nearest town to this spot is Teekoy. Numerous mountain streams in this peak, flow down to form the Meenachil River. Tourists must trek <1 km to reach the summit of the peak. Illikkal Kallu comprises three hills, each rising to 4,000 ft above sea level. Each of the hills has a peculiar shape. One of them resembles a mushroom, which is why it is known as Kuda Kallu .     Meghamalai, popularly called Highwavys Mountains, is a mountain range situated in the Western Ghats in Theni district, Tamil Nadu. It is dotted with cardamom plantations and tea estates. The place is situated at an elevation of 1,500 m above sea level and it is rich in flora and fauna. This area, now mostly planted with tea, includes Cloudlands, Highwavys, Venniar and Manalar estates, the access to which is now largely restricted. It still includes large untouched remnants of evergreen forest.
