Kristiansund [krɪstjɑnˈsʉnː] is a city and municipality on the western coast of Norway in the Nordmøre district of Møre og Romsdal county. It was officially awarded township status in 1742, and it is still the major town for the region. The administrative center of the municipality is the city of Kristiansund. Other settlements in the municipality include the villages of Kvalvåg, Rensvik, and Nedre Frei. The town of Kristiansund is the largest settlement in the municipality. It is located on the small island of Grip about 14 kilometres northwest of the city of Kristiansund in the Norwegian Sea. The church is part of the Kristiansund parish in the Ytre Nordmøre deanery in the Diocese of Møre.With only one nave that is 12 metres long, 6.5 metres wide, and 6 metres high, it is one of Norway's smallest churches. The priest no longer lived in the parish after the year 1635, but regularly visited the island.     Kirkelandet Church is the main parish church for Kristiansund Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. It is located on the island of Kirkelandet in the town of Kristiansund. The church is part of the Kristiansund parish in the Ytre Nordmøre deanery in the Diocese of Møre. The church is also the seat of the deanery, and Gerd Anne Aarset is the Dean. Tormod Sikkeland is the pastor. The church was built in 1964 by the architect Odd Østbye. The church seats about 550 people.

    Nordlandet Church is a parish church in Kristiansund Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. It is located on the western end of the island of Nordlandet in the town of Kristiansund. The church is part of the Nordlandet parish in the Ytre Nordmøre deanery in the Diocese of Møre. The stone church was built in 1914 based upon designs by the architect Hagbarth Martin Schytte-Berg . The church features murals by Emanuel Vigeland. The altarpiece dates from 1850 and was transferred from Kristiansund Church, which was demolished in 1884. The church seats about 700 people. It is one of the few churches in the area that were not harmed during World War II.

    Kvernes is a village in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. The village of Kvernes is located in the present-day Averøy Municipality on the east coast of the island of Averøya, along the Kvernesfjorden. There are two churches in Kvernes village: Kvernes Stave Church and the Kvernes Church . The stave church is now a museum. Kvernes was a municipality from 1838 until 1964, encompassing the whole island of Averøya, part of the Romsdal peninsula, and part of the island of Frei. Over time it gradually got smaller until 1964, when the 36-square-kilometre municipality was merged into Averøy.
