This small church is definitely worth a visit if you are passing by in the vicinity. It is one of the most important places of worship for the so-called marchigiani, as well as the final resting place of Saint Pius of Pietrelcina. The remains of the saint are still on display in the church today.

Mondello Beach Palermo in Sicily Italy MSC Meraviglia
Mondello is a small borough of the city of Palermo in the autonomous region of Sicily in Southern Italy.
Its beach lies between two cliffs called Mount Gallo and Mount Pellegrino. The town was originally a small fishing village situated on marshland, but at the end of the 19th century it grew into a favourite tourist destination. The numerous Liberty style villas on the seafront promenade made it one of the gems of Art Nouveau in Europe.
Mondello is characterized by a sandy bay of tropical colors that binds the two promontories, called Monte Gallo and Mount Pellegrino, with a coastline of white sand that nowadays is little more than 1.5 kilometers long. The landscape is influenced by the Natural Reserve of Capo Gallo and the reserve of Monte Pellegrino. Today the area is famous for its beach, which is one of the most coveted shores of Italy, for its many Art Nouveau villas, which characterize the architecture of the place, making it an important landmark in the history of international modernism.
We were here as part of a shore excursion, sailing on board the MSC Meraviglia, to visit Santa Rosalia Grotto and Mondello!
-----
We sail on the MSC Meraviglia, the flagship of the MSC fleet! When launched in July 2017, the MSC Merviglia (at 172,000 GT) was the fourth largest cruise ship in the world, only behind the 3 Oasis-class vessels owned by Royal Caribbean). Meraviglia, in Italain, connotes a feeling of wonder, astonishment and amazement. The ship has Galleria Meraviglia, a 300ft central promenande filled with boutiques, restaurants, and also used for entertainment. It comes with a 5,200 sq feet LED dome - an atmospheric digital sky that animates the Galleria Meraviglia with inspiring sunrises, sunsets, mosiacs, shows and starry night skies. On this 7N cruise out of Genoa, we sailed in the Yacht Club Royal Suite 15008. A truly luxurious experience! #MSCMeraviglia

MSC Cruises is a global cruise line that was founded in Italy, is registered in Switzerland, and has its headquarters in Geneva. MSC Cruises is the world's largest privately owned cruise company, employing 16,300 people worldwide and having offices in 45 countries as of July 2014.[1] MSC Cruises (Italian: MSC Crociere S.p.A.) is part of the Mediterranean Shipping Company S.A. (MSC), the world's second biggest container shipping operator.
It was founded in Naples, Italy as Lauro Lines (also known as Flotta Lauro) by Achille Lauro. The company entered the cruise business in the 1960s, operating two ships, the Angelina Lauro and MS Achille Lauro. The Angelina Lauro burnt in the port of St. Thomas in 1979 and the Achille Lauro was hijacked by members of the Palestine Liberation Front in 1985. In 1989, Mediterranean Shipping Company bought Flotta Lauro and renamed it StarLauro Cruises.[2] In 1994, the Achille Laurocaught fire and sank. In 1995, the company name was changed to MSC Cruises.[2]
MSC Cruises is the fourth largest cruise company in the world, after Carnival Corporation & plc, Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. and Norwegian Cruise Linewith a 5.2% share of all passengers carried in 2015.[3]
In 2014 MSC Cruises announced that the four Lirica class ships will undergo renovation under the Renaissance Programme.[4]
In 2015, MSC Cruises had four new ships on order from STX France and Fincantieri, with options for three more. The first two ships are due to be delivered in May 2017 (MSC Meraviglia) and November 2017 (MSC Seaside). There are four more diesel-powered ships on order for delivery in 2020s.[citation needed]
In September 2016, MSC Cruises announced children-oriented attractions and activities together with LEGO, Chicco, DOREBRO sports program, and with Michelin-starred chef Carlo Cracco. [5]

Places to see in ( Sorrento - Italy )
Places to see in ( Sorrento - Italy )
Sorrento is a coastal town in southwestern Italy, facing the Bay of Naples on the Sorrentine Peninsula. Perched atop cliffs that separate the town from its busy marinas, it’s known for sweeping water views and Piazza Tasso, a cafe-lined square. The historic center is a warren of narrow alleys that's home to the Chiesa di San Francesco, a 14th-century church with a tranquil cloister.
An unashamed resort, Sorrento is nonetheless a civilised and beautiful town. Even the souvenirs are a cut above the norm, with plenty of fine old shops selling the ceramics, lacework and intarsio (marquetry items) that are famously produced here. The main drawback is the lack of a proper beach: the town straddles the cliffs overlooking the water to Naples and Mt Vesuvius.
Sorrento makes a good base for exploring the region's highlights: to the south is the best of the peninsula’s unspoilt countryside, to the east is the Amalfi Coast, to the north lie Pompeii and other archaeological sites, and offshore lies the fabled island of Capri.
Ferries and hydrofoils connect the town to Naples, Amalfi, Positano, Capri and Ischia. Sorrento's sea cliffs and luxury hotels have attracted celebrities including Enrico Caruso and Luciano Pavarotti. Limoncello, a digestif made from lemon rinds, alcohol, water and sugar, is produced in Sorrento. Other agricultural production includes citrus fruit, wine, nuts and olives.
The Roman name for Sorrento was Surrentum. Legends indicate a close connection between Lipara and Surrentum, as though the latter had been a colony of the former; and even through the Imperial period Surrentum remained largely Greek. The oldest ruins are Oscan, dating from about 600 BC. Before its control by the Roman Republic, Surrentum was one of the towns subject to Nuceria, and shared its fortunes up to the Social War; it seems to have joined in the revolt of 90 BC like Stabiae; and was reduced to obedience in the following year, when it seems to have received a colony.
The two main processions that take place in Sorrento on Good Friday are the Procession of Our Lady of Sorrows (or the Visit in the Sepulchres), organised by the Venerable Arciconfraternita of Saint Monica and the Procession of the Crucified Christ, organised by the Venerable Arciconfraternita of the Death.
Sorrento was the birthplace of the poet Torquato Tasso, author of the Gerusalemme Liberata. The town was quite famously featured in the early-20th-century song Torna a Surriento (Come Back to Sorrento) with lyrics by Giambattista De Curtis, brother of the song's composer, Ernesto De Curtis. In the 1920s, famous Soviet writer Maxim Gorky lived in Sorrento. In the 1940s, widely renowned astro-physicist Ian Dickson lived in Sorrento. He owned one of the most expensive houses on the bay of Naples.
After the song Torna a Surriento, the second masterpiece, which has spread the fame of Sorrento in the world, is Caruso, a song composed in Sorrento, in the summer of 1985, by the Bolognese singer-songwriter Lucio Dalla, whose fifty-years ties with Sorrento are described in the novel by the Sorrentine writer, Raffaele Lauro, titled Caruso The Song - Lucio Dalla and Sorrento, which was released in December 2014.

A City on FIRE: RAGUSA AT NIGHT! Sicily, Italy // 153
Tonight, I explored Ragusa in all it's fiery glory! The lights lit the pathways, reflecting off the rain-coated stones, producing the image that the city was on fire! I spent a few hours going down (down, down, down) the steps to the Upper Town, Ragusa Ibla, which is the oldest part of Ragusa. Once I hit the valley, I began the trek up (up, up, up) into the old Ibla sector.
The town was mysteriously empty. I could not figure out of siesta hours were very long here, or if everyone stayed inside because of the rain, or if no one was in the town at all! After wandering through Ibla Park (a beautiful and peaceful park in Ragusa) at night, I managed to find restaurant that was open. Unfortunately, it was a pricey one, so I ordered a side salad (Sicilian Tomato Salad) and a side of potatoes (Baked Potatoes)--recipes below. They came with bread and were quite delicious, so I'm not complaining.
Thankfully, I was able to (somehow) take a bus back to the opposite side of the Upper Town and made it back into my warm, dry hotel room before 9pm!
Sicilian Side Salad: Fresh red/green tomatoes, white onions, capers, and olive oil
Baked Potatoes: Brown potatoes, seasoned with olive oil, salt, and rosemary

Places to see in ( Milazzo - Italy )
Places to see in ( Milazzo - Italy )
Hardly Sicily's prettiest town, Milazzo is hemmed in on its eastern perimeter by industrial development that can make even the most open-minded visitor run for the nearest hydrofoil. Indeed, the prime reason for setting foot in this town is to get to the Aeolian Islands. But, away from the refineries and busy dock, Milazzo has a pretty Borgo Antico (Old Town), and the isthmus that juts out to the north is an area of great natural beauty dotted with rocky coves, well worth a visit for those with time to spare.
Castle of Milazzo. Begun by the Arabs, enlarged by the Normans, restored and strengthened by Frederick II, it is surrounded by walls with round towers built under Alfonso V of Aragon, with a Gothic portal dating from the 14th century. Near the castle are the ruins of the fourteenth-century palace of the grand jury and the old cathedral (1603) probably built on a design by architect Camillo Camillians.
The Old Town includes the fortified citadel and medieval quarters of Milazzo, and contains numerous religious buildings. On entering the old town you first find the Shrine of St. Francesco di Paola, dating from the 18th century and built on the site of a pre-existing church of the 15th century. A little further into Milazzo old town you can see the 16th century Palace of the Viceroy, further enriched in the 18th century with baroque balconies.
Continue along Via S. Domenico to see the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary. Built in the 16th century, the church was rebuilt in the 18th century at which time the interior was decorated with stucco and frescoes by Domenico Giordano (c.1760 - 1820). The road leads on to Milazzo Castle, with its imposing Spanish walls - these are the outermost and largest of the three sets of walls. The building was begun in the first half of the 16th century under Emperor Charles V of Spain (1500-1558), by the viceroy of Sicily, Duke Ettore Pignatelli (died in 1579), and it was completed towards the end of the century.
In Cumbo Borgia Street is the New Cathedral, a building dating back to the 1930s in which there are some valuable paintings by Antonello de Saliba, and other religious paintings attributed to Antonio Giuffrè (14th century), a painter of the Antonello da Messina (1429-1479) school. In lower Milazzo there is a scenic promenade along the seafront. if you continue along the waterfront and through the district of Vaccarella you can follow the panoramic road that leads to Cape Milazzo and towards the Shrine of St. Anthony of Padua.
The ferry port for travelling to the Aeolian islands is found at Milazzo and these islands are a wonderful mix of sea, beach and volcano. Lipari is the busiest of the seven islands. Filicudi and Panarea are also popular outings. Art lovers will want to visit Castroreale and the Pinacoteca art gallery housed in an an ancient church.
Milazzo borders with the municipalities of Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto, Merì and San Filippo del Mela. Milazzo is the point of reference of a vaste territory, from Villafranca Tirrena to Patti (over 200,000 inhabitants). Is also, an important centre of the Strait of Messina Metropolitan Area (who also includes areas of Reggio Calabria), with the nearby town Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto. Located at the base of a peninsula that juts into the Tyrrhenian Sea with a small promontory, the town is 43 kilometres (27 mi) from the city of Messina.
Alot to see in Milazzo such as :
Castle of Milazzo
the Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel
the Baroque Church of the Holy Crucifix (1629), housing a wooden canopy from the 18th century and a wooden crucifix from the early 17th century.
Rock church of St. Anthony of Padua
Sanctuary of St. Francis of Paola
