New Hampshire's North Country: Travel Video Postcard:
We are notorious off season travelers, and we found ourselves, post Thanksgiving pre Christmas. In New Hampshire's North Country...the towns that gather in the northwest foothills of the White Moutains, just east of the Vermont border.
Yes it was a bit bleak, but just a few-miles from our comfortable stay at the Sunset Hill House, in Sugar Hill, turns out it was the perfect time for the Rocks Christmas Tree Farm, in.....Bethlehem NH..( families scoured the hillsides in search of the perfect tree.
Or hitched a wagon ride with these beauties (handsome dark work horses)..who made the rounds every 15 minutes or so.
And inside the big barn at The Rocks, there were all kinds of handmade creations to explore, warm coca or cider to drink, even a
basket weaving demonstration. It's a great meditation.
But the high point for me was probably watching a delicious batch
of Kingdom Kernels kettle corn, pop to life....plump, light, and with a perfect balance of salt and sweet. The best! (kingdomkernelskettlecorn.com)
The Rocks is open year round, and is the center for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests
We also found some cheer in the-feisty village of Littleton NH, where we headed straight Chutters famous candy store ... who would not delight at the worlds longest penny candy counter.

Indian Head Resort White Mountains New Hampshire
Growing up in New Hampshire this was a favorite getaway as they had a great Indian store where I bought Indian moccasins, hatchets, knives and shirts...my cowboy clothes stayed home weekends and on to playing Indians and Squaws with braids and beads...
Indian Head Resort started its journey as Indian Head Estate in 1913 with 10 campsites.
Over the years these first campsites grew to more than 70 cabins and bungalows.
In 1922 a group of three-room cabins were opened and a few years later, 29 more cabins were added and named “English Village”.
A wooden observation tower was built on the west side of Rt. 3 to view the famous Indian Head Rock Profile.
The tower proved an extremely popular viewing station for the local landmark, and a more sturdy steel tower was later constructed. In the 1950’s the 100-foot steel observation tower was relocated across the street to its present location along with the main office and facilities.
In the 1950’s Indian Head modernized and converted to motel accommodations.
These 98 rooms are still found above the main lobby and dining room.
There are 40 cabins, 4 bungalows, a vast award-winning dining room with a capacity of 300+ people and facilities that include indoor/outdoor pools and relaxing hot spas, tennis courts, a game room, the Thunderbird Lounge with super friendly cute smiling waitresses, entertainment for kids in the Green Room, and Shadow Lake for fishing[my favorite] and paddle boating.
Open year-round, Indian Head Resort, a New England treasure is centrally located in the Heart of the White Mountains in New Hampshire.
The perfect headquarters for your vacation, 35 area attractions, scenic drives, outdoor recreation of all kinds, and plenty of tax free shopping.
When you see the totem pole, you know you’ve found this fun family resort.
Views across the 180 acres of this resort’s property, near the Loon and Cannon Mountain ski areas, are of Indian Head Rock Profile and the Franconia Mountains.
