Patagonia TOP 10 best places to visit
Patagonia is a region in South America, share by Chile and Argentina. In the Southern Andes you will find dramatic landscapes like deserts, pampas and grasslands (with guanaco). This region is located just north of Tierra del Fuego. The amazingly stunning Carretera Austral runs through this area and is a great roadtrip on your holiday. When you visit Patagonia, make sure you visit these highlights, as these are the best things to do in Patagonia:
1. Torres del Paine (Parque Nacional Torres del Paine)
The iconic of Patagonia: the three giant granite peaks are well worth the visit! Whether you want to do a day hike or the W circuit multi-day hike, this will be one of the highlights!

Closet to track: goo.gl/6VeMBi
2. Cerro Fitz Roy ( El Chalten, Parque Nacional Los Glaciares)
Mount Fitz Roy is located on the Southern Patagonian Ice Field. It is among the most challenging mountains to climb, but the views from the bottom are also fabulous!

Patagonia, the fabled ‘edge of the world’, spans the southernmost regions of Chile and Argentina and can be rugged and desolate as well as breathtakingly beautiful and inviting.
This last frontier of South America is a colorful mosaic of snow-capped mountains, icebergs, volcanoes, glaciers, forests, lakes and vast steppe plains.
On the Argentinean side, the scenic Road of the 7 Lakes takes you from San Martín de los Andes to Villa La Angostura and finally San Carlos de Bariloche, a popular ski resort on the shores of Lake Nahuel Huapi.
El Chaltén, in the southern Andes, is Argentina’s trekking capital. Trails lead to Laguna Capri, Fitz Roy Mountain and the fearsome Cerro Torre.
El Calafate is nestled the southern shores of Lago Argentino and is the gateway lake to Los Glaciares National Park. Here, one of the world’s most awe-inspiring glaciers awaits: the Perito Moreno Glacier.
In the southernmost city in the world, Ushuaia, take the 'End of the World Train’ to Tierra del Fuego National Park or get there by boat over the Beagle Channel. Photo opportunities along the way include Bird Island, Seal Island and the historic Les Éclaireurs lighthouse.
On the Chilean side of Patagonia, the regional capital Punta Arenas attracts visitors with its colonial architecture, cultural attractions and hospitality.
Tour the region’s Milodón Cave, where the remains of a giant ground-dwelling sloth and other huge extinct species were found.
Torres del Paine National Park is great for horse riding or hiking, with its steppes, snowcapped peaks, brimming lakes and Salto Grande waterfalls.
On the northern border of Chilean Patagonia, in the Los Lagos region, looms the mighty Osorno Volcano. The town of Puerto Varas, on the opposite shores of Lake Llanquihue, marks the end your Patagonia expedition.

Puerto Montt - Chile (HD)
Travel Videos HD, World Travel Guide
Puerto Montt is a port city and commune in southern Chile, located at the northern end of the Reloncaví Sound in the Llanquihue Province, Los Lagos Region, 1,055 km to the south of the capital, Santiago. The commune spans an area of 1,673 km2 (646 sq mi) and had a population of 175,938 in 2002. It is bounded by the communes of Puerto Varas to the north, Cochamó to the east and southeast, Calbuco to the southwest and Maullín and Los Muermos to the west. Founded as late as 1853 during the German colonization of southern Chile, Puerto Montt soon outgrew older neighboring cities due to its strategic position at the southern end of the Chilean Central Valley being a gateway city into Chiloé Archipelago, Llanquihue and Nahuel Huapi lakes and Western Patagonia.
Puerto Montt has gained renown and grown significantly due to the rise of Chile as the second largest salmon producer of the world during the 1990s and 2000s. However, the Chilean salmon aquaculture crisis of the late 2000s resulted at least temporarily in severe unemployment and exposed weaknesses in the local economy. The city's cultural heritage mixes elements of Chiloé culture with German heritage although the city has attracted a significant number of newcomers from all over Chile in the last 30 years due to employment opportunities.
Puerto Montt is a fast growing city in the south of Chile, just north of Chiloé Island. It boasts great views of the ocean and towering peaks of the andes, and is a centre for travellers heading further south along the Carretera Austral, or east to Argentina.
Lago Todos Los Santos Vacation Travel Video Guide
Travel video about destination Lago Todos Los Santos in Chile.
In the centre of Chile is what is known as the Small South, there is an area of lakes that is one of the most beautiful regions of the South American Andes and in which the primeval power of the landscape has an almost mystical fascination. The Mapuche Indians once inhabited this wilderness but they were forced to abandon the region with the arrival of the Spanish Conquistadores. Around twenty thousand German immigrants travelled to the region between 1846 and the First World War. They discovered a landscape similar to that of Central Europe but instead of the Alps it was volcanoes that greeted them from the opposite side of the lake. A journey by catamaran travels to a remote area in which the untouched natural landscape is quite remarkable. The main interest of those on board lies in the volcanoes that appear beyond the hills and are enthusiastically photographed at every opportunity. Melting ice from the Osorno Volcano flows into the Rio Petrohué. Light blue, crystal clear mountain water flows at high speed across a field of lava, and rocks in the riverbed force the water to change direction. Foaming and roaring it travels in various directions but always towards the lake. Between Puerto Octay in the north and Puerto Varas in the south it measures almost fifty kilometres and behaves like a small ocean. This region of Chile enchants with its nature, remoteness, climate and many captivating lakes. Indeed, this land of the araucaria, volcanoes and lakes, is a paradise found!

Chiloé Island, Chile (HD)
Visit Chiloé Island, Chile - Chiloé Island, Chile Tours - Chiloé Island, Chile Vacation
Travel Videos HD, World Travel Guide
Chiloé Island (Isla de Chiloé), also known as Greater Island of Chiloé (Isla Grande de Chiloé), is the largest island of the Chiloé Archipelago off the coast of Chile, in the Pacific Ocean. The island is located in southern Chile, in the Los Lagos Region.
Chiloe is famous for myths and legends with roots in its native population but with some European influence. Even though the island was Christianized by Spanish conquerors (you can visit many of the Jesuit wooden churches all over the island) its inhabitants are also very superstitious. A singing, fair-haired beauty similar to the German Lorelei is called la pincoya. It is said that if she dances towards the coast the sea will bring a lot of fish. A ghost ship carrying the souls of wrecked sailors, similar to the Flying Dutchman, is called caleuche. And if someone tells you he or she was seduced in the forest, it might have been the fiura or the trauco, which is often blamed for venereal disease or an awkward pregnancy. A very pitiful figure is the invunche; as a baby his orifices, including his eyes, were closed and one leg was sewn to his back, so that he walks on three legs.
See
=============
There are quite a few local sites to be seen throughout Chiloe Island. Since it was separated by water from the mainland, many of the local traditions have been preserved here, instead of merging with the Spanish culture after the conquest.
The Bay of Caulin offers the chance to see locals actively rounding up seaweed in their daily tasks, being collected by hand and with ox-carts. The Bay of Ancud also offers great views and chances for kayaking. An old Spanish battery can also be visited on the North side of the bay. The Puñihuil Penguin colony is located on the north side of the island along the Pacific coast. Chiloe's National Park and Ahuenca region are habitat for diverse and abundant wildlife.
Tours
============
Few tour companies offer guided tours on Chiloe Island, as most Lakes District tourism activity takes place in the areas around Osorno Volcano, Lake Llanquihue, and Pumalin Park further northeast from the island.
