Dream Vacation!! Adults Only Lomani Resort in Fiji
We got the pleasure to be able to take a trip to Fiji for the first time and absolutely fell in love with this place. By far some of the nicest people we have ever met with outstanding hospitality. This has to be some of the best snorkeling in the world with the bluest water imaginable.
Recommendation: Book any and everything you want to do while there is good weather. Do not wait as the rain/weather can shut down specific tours and events.
Where did we stay: Lomani Adults Only Resort
What Airline: Fiji Airways
We took the Malolo Cat II to get from the port of Denarau to our island of Malolo LaiLai.
Places we recommend visiting:
Cloud 9
Cloudbreak Dolphin Tour
Private Castaway Island Tour
The Village Tour
The Garden of the Sleeping Giant just North of Nadi
The daily snorkel tours offered by Lomani Island resort.
And lastly make sure to take part in the Kava ceremony and enjoy being a part of the Fijian culture.

Fiji Islands Travel Guide
Fiji Islands Travel Guide
Fiji or Fiji Islands is a Melanesian country in the South Pacific Ocean. It lies about one-third of the way from New Zealand to Hawaii and consists of an archipelago of 332 islands, a handful of which make up most of the land area, and approximately 110 of which are inhabited.
Fiji is famed for rugged landscapes, palm-lined beaches and coral reefs with clear lagoons. Its major islands, Viti Levu and Vanua Levu, contain most of the population. Viti Levu is home to the capital, Suva, a port city with British colonial architecture. The Fiji Museum, in the Victorian-era Thurston Gardens, has ethnographic exhibits.
Fiji is the product of volcanic mountains and warm tropical waters. Its varied coral reefs today draw tourists from around the world. Today, Fiji is a land of tropical rainforests, coconut plantations, fine beaches, and fire-cleared hills. In most of the interior of the main islands there are some roads and always trails, and an amazing number of remote villages. Buses and open or canvas topped carriers traverse the mountains of Vanua Levu several times a day and the interior mountains of Viti Levu many times weekly.
Fiji can be divided into nine groups of islands:

Tourism is the backbone of the Fijian economy. Overall, Fiji can be classed as a mid-range priced destination and so most of Fiji's accommodation falls into this range. However, world class luxury resorts residing on isolated islands attracts the rich and famous. Fiji can also be done on a budget, but it is advisable to plan ahead. Budget resorts offer equally beautiful views compared to their wealthier cousins, and Fiji's internet accessibility is improving which increasingly aids travelers.

WE CARE
As owner operators with 40 years experience in Fiji. We are committed to give back to our community, especially those less forunate. In 2012 we jointly established The Western divisions fist Kidney Dialysis Clinic in Nadi. Rather than travelling several hours to clinics in Suva. Western division patients can now be treated with dignity at the Nadi clinic. We maintain an ongoing commitment to this life changing initiative.
Other community initiatives we are proud of are; Buy Fijian made. We are supporters of the “buy Fiji made” initiative and as such you will see items in our Boutique that are made, grown or sewn in Fiji and many that have come from, or support rural craft groups. We encourage you to consider the local crafted products over imported souvenir items.
Waste Management. All organic waste and papers are composted for use in the resort gardens. We operate a recycling program for tin cans, glass bottles and plastic bottles. With proceeds returned to our island community.
Kuita Trust. We offer our guests the opportunity to give a little to those less fortunate in Fiji. By donating F$5 per room per stay. Kuita is Fijian for octopus, which symbolises far and reaching. This trust operates to assist Fijians less fortunate in remote areas, no matter of race or creed. 100% of all donations is distriubted.
ISLAND HISTORY
In 1872, Malolo Lailai was sold to John Thomson by Ratu Kini, a Nadroga Chief (Chief of the area). Malolo Lailai being uninhabited, was purchased to plant cotton, which was in scarce supply at the time. Thomson died in 1876 and Malolo Lailai was sold to an American named Louis Armstrong. Armstrong later died bankrupt and the island was transferred to the Mortgage Agency of Australasia Ltd, who sold and transferred the island to James Borron in November 1891. Borron owned and operated several plantations throughout Fiji. Borron leased Malolo Lailai to a Chinese family by the name of Wongket for 70 years to grow copra. However with Wongket’s agreement to cut short the lease it was sold to three owners, Richard Smith, Reg Raffe & Sir Ian MacFarlane. The three then renamed Malolo Lailai as Leeward Island in the late 60’s. In the early 1970’s the three gentlemen decided to part ways and individually manage their portion of the island. By then the airstrip was built which ran as a boundary and divided the now Plantation Island Resort and Musket Cove Resort . In 1969 Plantation Village Resort opened with six rooms, now known as Plantation Island Resort. Richard (Dick) Smith started building Musket Cove, which was then casually known as Dick’s Place and on the 03rd of October 1976, Musket Cove Island Resort was born. The resort opened with twelve Bures and some 40 years later, Musket Cove proudly stand as Fiji’s Oldest Resort Company boasting a diverse range of Accommodation choices with 55 Bures and Villas, Villa residential development, Marina, a day Spa, Bar & restaurant. In the year 2000, Sir Ian MacFarlane sold his share of Malolo Lailai to the remaining two partners. The islands ownership boundary is now defined by the airstrip, with the 400 acres north of the airstrip belonging to Musket Cove island resort. Today it is still an entirely Fijian owned and operated company with over 150 employees.
