Michigan is a U.S. state located in the Great Lakes Region of the United States of America. The name Michigan is a French alteration of the Ojibwe word mishigamaa, meaning large water.
It has the longest freshwater coastline of any political subdivision in the world, being bounded by four of the five Great Lakes. Michigan is one of the leading U.S. states for recreational boating. The state has 64,980 inland lakes and ponds. A person in the state is never more than six miles (10 km) from a natural water source or more than 85 miles (137 km) from a Great Lakes shoreline.
Michigan is the only state to consist entirely of two peninsulas. The Lower Peninsula, to which the name Michigan was originally applied, is often noted to be shaped like a mitten. The Upper Peninsula (often referred to as The U.P.) is separated from the Lower Peninsula by the Straits of Mackinac, a five-mile (8 km)-wide channel that joins Lake Huron to Lake Michigan. In this video, I head out to Ludington, MI to check out the downtown area including the Mason County Courthouse. US 10 travels west through the city which continues over to Manitowoc, WI by car ferry. Later in the video, I head over to Stearns Park right along Lake Michigan which includes the Ludington Light.

The Outer Lighthouse is a round, cast-iron plate 35-foot tall tower topped by a round watch room and 10-sided lantern room and located on Lake Michigan, on the north breakwater at the mouth of the St. Joseph River. There is also a St. Joseph North Pier Inner Lighthouse in the middle of the North Pier. The lights are connected by an elevated catwalk that extends from the shore to the outer light.

RV Travel: The Cherry Bowl Drive-In Theatre - Honor, Michigan - Roadside America

While traveling in our RV in Michigan, we came across this neat roadside attraction.

Cherry Bowl Drive-In Theatre & Diner is a historic drive-in theater and diner in Honor, Michigan on US Highway 31. It opened on July 4, 1953 and was one of seven remaining drive-in theaters in Michigan in 2003. It has a snack bar, children's play areas, putt-putt golf, beach volleyball, home-run derby and an area for dogs. Entertainment events include Hula-Hoop contests and Elvis impersonators. The Cherry Bowl is the only remaining drive-in theater in Northern Michigan. The Cherry Bowl's sound system uses the original vacuum tube motiograph amplifiers powering speakers at speaker posts. An FM Radio option is also offered. The drive-in theatre is open in the summertime. The Cherry Bowl has converted to digital HD projection. [Wikipedia]
