Magic Altai
Once visiting Altai, you will want to visit it again and again. Here is the purest air, untouched nature, places fascinating with its beauty. During the trip, you will visit the island of Patmos, where a copy of the ancient temple of St. John the Theologian from wood is recreated. Today, Patmos Island is a women's monastery of the Barnaul Znamensky Monastery. The temple on the island is valid. You can walk there through a narrow bridge suspended on cables, under which the Katun River carries its waters 10-15 meters away. Descending and climbing the cable car, you will discover the most picturesque landscapes on the Taiga, the Katun River, the Manzherok Lake and the Altai Mountains. You will also visit the tract Chech-Kysh (Valley of mountain spirits), which is the tribal gorge of one of the Altai tribes.

The video documents a bicycle tour in the Altai Mountains of Russia undertaken by a international group of avid cyclists. The group members were from Czech Republic, Slovakia and Canada with a Russian guide and vehicle support.
We did a full loop starting in Manzherok. We headed to the north shores of Teletskoye Lake and then went by ferry to the lake’s south shore. From there we traveled through the Chulushman River valley where we took time to hike to water falls and visit the Stone Mushrooms. Towards the end of the valley, we climbed the Kato-Yarik mountain pass and then continued on to Inegen. From there we did a day trip towards Belukha (highest mountain in Altai) to view the confluence of the great Katun river and the Argut river. At the point where the Katun merges with the Ursula River, we crossed the Katun and went down a very ‘off-road’ path to the village of Kuyus.
We then followed the main road through Chemal to Chergi and onward to the villages of Altaiskoye and Ai. The trip ended with a ride through the Turquoise Katun Resort zone and then onto Manzherok.
It was an amazing trip! It seems that every Czech and Slovak is simply obliged to own a musical instrument, get up early and travel 100 km in any weather and without any problems!
