Meteghan is an Acadian fishing community along the shores of Baie Sainte-Marie in Clare municipality Digby County, Nova Scotia, Canada. It is 25 miles northeast of Yarmouth. Meteghan, which draws its name from the Mi'kmaq term Mitihikan meaning blue rocks, was founded in 1785 by Prudent Robichaud, Joseph LeBlanc, and other Acadian families. It is home to Smuggler's Cove Provincial Park. Meteghan is the largest of several communities that make up the Clare Municipal District. Smuggler’s Cove Provincial Park is located in Meteghan, Digby County, Nova Scotia, Canada and can be found alongside Highway 1 in the Yarmouth and Acadian Shores region. Smuggler’s Cove is known for the small cave in the cliff used for the smuggling of liquor during prohibition in the 1920s. The ocean waters fill the cove during high tide which prevents access to the cave, but it can be traversed briefly during low tide.

Fort Anne is a four-star fort built to protect the harbour of Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia. The fort repelled all French attacks during the early stages of King George's War. Now designated a National Historic Site of Canada, it is managed by Parks Canada. The 1797 officer's quarters was renovated in the 1930s and now house the museum with exhibits about the fort's history and historic artifacts from the area. A 1⁄2-kilometre trail runs along the fort's earthen walls, and provides a view of the Annapolis River and basin.

Im traveling round Nova Scotia at the moment and I went to Hall's Harbour Lobster pound in the Bay of Fundy and saw the biggest Lobster ive ever seen. The Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic had its beginning in the mid-1960's, as the Centennial Project of the Town of Lunenburg. Originally called the Lunenburg Fisheries Museum, the goal of the volunteers who supervised the project was the formation of a museum which would recognize the historic importance of the fishing industry of the Canadian east coast.

First Day Of Lobster Fishing (‎2018)

First day Of Fishing ‎Monday, ‎May ‎7, ‎2018.
In this specific lobster fishing area, the fish harvesters are allowed 250 traps each in total and fish for about 8 weeks each summer. They place their traps out in lines, 10 per line in this community, while some other places, fish harvesters have 8 per line. Some years catches are better than other years, depending on weather conditions. Cold weather causes the lobsters not to move a lot and storms can wreck havoc. Lobster fishing has been the primary fishery in this area since the 1880s. Years ago, many fish harvesters fished from this cove, now very little. However, those who do fish, fish on the license fished by their fathers and even grandfathers. Beautiful part of Newfoundland culture...
