You will be starting your journey to mirik via sukna road getting Madhuban Park on your way near the Army military camp.

Mirik is a small town and a municipality of Darjeeling district in the state of West Bengal, India. It is the headquarters of the Mirik subdivision. Mirik has become a tourist destination for its climate, natural environment and easy accessibility. The centre of all attraction is Sumendu Lake, surrounded by a garden named Savitri Pushpaudyan on one side and pine trees on the other, linked together by an arching footbridge called Indreni Pool . A 3.5-km-long road encircles the lake and is used for walks with the view of Kangchenjunga on the far horizon. Boating on the quaint boats and horse riding are available. Mirik Bazar began a commercial centre of the region where people from the surrounding villages and tea gardens came to trade and buy their necessities.
You may either stay at Mirik and explore the area around or visit Mirik as part of a day trip from Darjeeling. Some tourists also visit Mirik only while driving down from Darjeeling on their way to Bagdogra airport or New Jalpaiguri rail station. However, the day visitors or the tourists who visit Mirik only on their way to other places miss the essence of Mirik. You will end up spending a couple of hours beside the Mirik lake Samendu or having lunch at the local restaurant. To enjoy Mirik, you need to stay here overnight, and the longer is the better.
सुमेंदु झील के चारों ओर बसा मिरिक खूबसूरत है, शांत है और दार्जीलिंग की तुलना में ज्यादा पास है। सुमेंदु झील के चारों ओर टहलते हुए, दूर क्षितिज में कंचनजंगा को निहारते हुए बड़ी सुखद अनुभूति होती है। आसपास चाय के बागान भी मिरिक को दार्जीलिंग जैसी अनुभूति देते हैं। मिरिक अपने ऑरेंज व ऑर्किड, दोनों के लिए जाना जाता है। इसके अलावा मिरिक में बोकर मोनेस्ट्री है, टिंगलिंग व्यू प्वाइंट है और कंचनजंगा पर उगते सूरज की आभा देखने के लिए सनराइज प्वाइंट है। कैसे पहुंचे: मिरिक सिलीगुड़ी से 52 किलोमीटर दूर हों। यहां से दार्जीलिंग 49 किलोमीटर है। सबसे निकट का रेलवे स्टेशन दिल्ली-गुवाहाटी रेलवे लाइन पर न्यू जलपाईगुड़ी है। सबसे निकट का हवाई अड्डा बागडोगरा है, जो मिरिक से 52 किलोमीटर दूर है। सिलीगुड़ी व दार्जीलिंग से मिरिक के लिए टैक्सी मिल जाती हैं। कहां ठहरें: मिरिक में ज्यादातर होटलें कृष्णानगर इलाके में हैं। कई लॉज व गेस्ट हाउस भी हैं। वन विभाग का भी एक खूबसूरत रेस्ट हाउस है और हैलीपेड के निकट एक होटल हिल काउंसिल का भी है। कब जाएं: मिरिक देश के उस हिस्से में है जहां आम तौर पर बहुत ज्यादा गर्मी नहीं पड़ती। यहां लगभग पूरे सालभर मौसम खुशनुमा रहता है। सर्दियां बेहद ठंडी होती हैं। वैसे मार्च से मई और सितंबर से नवंबर का समय सर्वश्रेष्ठ है।
