- The Marche is one of the 20 Regions of Italy. The Italian name Le Marche is the plural of marca, and literally means the Marches, originally referring to the medieval March of Ancona and nearby marches of Camerino and Fermo.
The Marche are located in the Central area of the country, bordering Emilia-Romagna and the republic of San Marino to the north, Tuscany to the north-west, Umbria to the west, Abruzzo and Lazio to the south and the Adriatic Sea to the east. ونیز زیباترین شهر جهان است. هیچ‌کس نیست که این جمله را تصدیق نکند. همه‌ی ما دوست داریم برای یک بار هم که شده ونیز را از نزدیک ببینیم اما اطلاعات کمی درباره‌ی تاریخ این شهر داریم.
شهر ونیز در سواحل شمال شرقی ایتالیا واقع شده و مرکز منطقه‌ی ونتو (Veneto) است. ونیز مجموعه‌ای از جزیره‌های کوچک است که به وسیله‌ی کانال‌هایی از هم جدا شده‌اند و تردد در این شهر با قایق انجام می‌شود. از این رو به نظر می‌رسد که این شهر، روی آب، شناور است. این ویژگی و تعدد آثار معماری باشکوه و قدیمی، باعث شده که این شهر به یکی از مقاصد مورد علاقه‌ی گردشگران و علاقه‌مندان به سفر، تبدیل شود. ونیز از مجموع ۱۱۵ تا ۱۱۸ جزیره‌ی کوچک تشکیل شده و چشم‌اندازهای خیره‌کننده و نفس‌گیری را در همه‌ی ساعات شبانه روز، در مقابل چشم گردشگران به نمایش می‌گذارد.
از میان جاذبه‌های گردشگری تاریخی و دیدنی ونیز، موارد زیر را می‌توان نام برد:
میدان سن مارکو، کلیسای سنت مارک، کانال بزرگ ونیز، قصر دوک (Doge's Palace)، پل Rialto، جزیره‌ی مورانو، مدرسه‌ی بزرگ سن روکو، کلیسای کاتولیک سنت ماریا دلا سلوته (Santa Maria della Salute)، کلیسای Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari، قصر Ca'Rezzonico، پل Sigh، موزه‌ی Correr و کلیسای Santi Giovanni e Paolo San Zaccaria.
تاریخچه
عده‌ی زیادی معتقد هستند که این مکان تاریخی، محل سکونت افرادی بوده که از جنگ تروا (Troy) گریخته‌اند. اما باستان‌شناسان دریافته‌اند که این شهر از قرون پنجم و ششم بعد از میلاد شکل گرفته است.
طبق گفته‌ها زمانی که بربرها به رم حمله کردند، تعداد زیادی از اهالی سرزمین اصلی ونیز گریختند و پراکنده شدند. بنابراین در ابتدا، اقامتگاه‌های این شهر موقتی بودند که ساکنان آن، آنها را به اقامتگاه دائمی خود تبدیل کردند. به دلیل قرار گرفتن در زمین باتلاقی، آنها مجبور شدند خانه‌های مقاوم‌تری بسازند. آنها به این نتیجه رسیدند که خانه‌ها را روی سکوهایی چوبی بنا کنند که سازه‌ها را محفوظ نگه دارد. بعد‌ها این جزایر کوچک را با استفاده از پل‌هایی به هم وصل کردند که این کار، برقراری ارتباط را برای آنها ساده‌تر کرد. این نحوه‌ی ساخت و ساز موجب شد که این شهر شبیه به شهری شناور روی آب، به نظر برسد. بنابراین ونیز زیبا را شهر شناور روی آب نامیدند.
بعد‌ها ونیز رشد کرد و در دنیا با نام جمهوری ونیز شناخته شد که دوک ونیز، بالاترین مقام این جمهوری آن را اداره می‌کرد؛ کسی که تجارت ونیز با اروپا را ارتقاء بخشید. آنها محصولاتی نظیر ابریشم، ادویه‌جات، غلات و سایر کالاهای گران‌قیمت را صادر می‌کردند. دوک ونیز، قصر زیبای ونیز را ساخت که اکنون نیز یکی از بناهای دیدنی این شهر است.
در نهایت، ونیز تجارت با کشورهای دیگر را آغاز کرد. حقوق تجارت ویژه با امپراتوری روم شرقی، این شهر را در کمتر از یک قرن به شهری ثروتمند و مستقل تبدیل کرد.
زیان‌های اقتصادی و تجارت نادرست با امپراتوری روم شرقی موجب شد که به مرور زمان، ثروت‌های ونیز به غارت برود. جنگ‌های تجاری متعدد با این امپراتوری، جنگ با جنوا، رقیب تجاری ونیز در سال‌های ۱۳۸۰ میلادی و حمله‌هایی به این شهر، ونیز را بسیار آسیب‌پذیر کرد.
برای نجات بقایای این شهر، ونیز به شهرهای اطراف نظیر ورونا و ویسنزا ملحق شد. این کار بخشی از قدرت اقتصادی ونیز را بازگرداند.
با سقوط قسطنطنیه و حمله‌ی ترک‌ها، این قدرت مجددا رو به زوال رفت. پیروزی‌هایی که در جنگ‌ها حاصل می‌شد، سرعت این نابودی را کاهش داد. در جریان این بردها و باخت‌ها در جنگ‌ها و درگیری‌های متعدد، ونیز امپراتوری خود را به بریتانیا و هلند واگذار کرد.
استقلال جمهوری ونیز در سال ۱۷۹۷ پایان یافت؛ زمانی که ارتش ناپلئون این شهر را مجبور کرد تا تسلط این دولت دموکراتیک را بپذیرد. در واقع با پذیرش این پیمان، فرانسه، تسلط کامل برای غارت بقایای این شهر پیدا کرد.
اما اتریش جای فرانسه را گرفت. این شهر پس از امضای پیمان صلح با فرانسه، مدتی را در آرامش به سر برد. اما این آرامش مدت زیادی طول نکشید. زمانی که فرانسه جنگ با اتریش را در جریان نبرد استرلیتز (Austerlitz) در سال ۱۸۰۵ به راه انداخت، ایتالیا پادشاهی خود را تشکیل داد.

We went to the City of Treviso one day. That's a very nice small City and not so crowded like venice.
