10. Aegadian Islands
The Aegadian Islands are a group of small mountainous islands in the Mediterranean Sea off the northwest coast of Sicily, Italy, near the cities of Trapani and Marsala, with a total area of 37.45 square kilometres. The overall population in 1987 was estimated at about 5,000. Winter frost is unknown and rainfall is low. The main occupation of the islanders is fishing, and the largest tuna fishery in Sicily is here.
9. Valle dei Templi, Agrigento
The Valle dei Templi is an archaeological site in Agrigento. It is one of the most outstanding examples of Greater Greece art and architecture, and is one of the main attractions of Sicily as well as a national monument of Italy. The area was included in the UNESCO Heritage Site list in 1997.
8. Monti Madonie
The Madonie are one of the principal mountain groups in Sicily, part of the Sicilian portion of the Apennines. It is located in Palermo Province. Apart from Mount Etna, it includes the highest elevations in Sicily: the highest peak of the range is the Pizzo Carbonara (1,979 m), followed by closely neighbouring Pizzo Antenna (1,977 m).

The Aeolian islands (Isole Eolie) are a group of attractive islands in the Tyrrhenian Sea about 25-50km north of Sicily in Italy. Formerly off the beaten track, this diverse group of volcanic islands is becoming more popular and can be very busy during July and August.

Cefalù is a fishing village and popular beach resort on the north coast of Sicily, Italy. Cathedral (Duomo) dominates the centre of town. It is the site of Byzantine mosaics different from the Norman/Arab ones at Monreale.

Monreale is a town and comune in the province of Palermo, in Sicily, Italy, on the slope of Monte Caputo, overlooking the very fertile valley called La Conca d'oro (the Golden Shell), famed for its orange, olive and almond trees, the produce of which is exported in large quantities. The town has a population of approximately 30,000, and it is located 15 kilometressouth of Palermo.
4. Ragusa Ibla
Ragusa Ibla hosts a wide array of Baroque architecture, including several stunning palaces and churches. The Cathedral of San Giorgio was built starting in 1738 by architect Rosario Gagliardi, in substitution of the temple destroyed by the 1693 earthquake, and of which only a Catalan-Gothyic style portal can still be seen.
3. Riserva Naturale dello Zingaro
Riserva naturale dello zingaro (Zingaro Nature reserve) is the first natural reserve that has been set up in Sicily in May 1981. It stretches along about 7 kilometers of unspoilt coastline of the Gulf of Castellammare and its mountain chain which is the setting of little bays and steep cliffs.

In 2013, Rabbit Beach, located in the southern part of the island, was voted the world's best beach by travel site TripAdvisor.

Our journey today takes us to Monreale outside of Palermo. This small village seems very inconspicuous but it holds one of the most stunning cathedrals in the world! We then head our way to Trapani at the west coast and take the cable car to Erice, a small quaint touristic spot with wonderful views and more impressive churches.

Sicily, the largest Mediterranean island, is just off the toe of Italy's boot. Its rich history is reflected in sites like the Valley of the Temples, the well-preserved ruins of 7 monumental, Doric-style Greek temples, and in the Byzantine mosaics at the Cappella Palatina, a former royal chapel in capital city Palermo. On Sicily’s eastern edge is Mount Etna, one of Europe’s highest active volcanoes. Sicily has a rich and unique culture, especially with regard to the arts, music, literature, cuisine, and architecture. It is also home to important archaeological and ancient sites, such as the Necropolis of Pantalica, the Valley of the Temples, and Selinunte.

The Aeolian Islands feature whitewashed villages and black-sand beaches. Sicily’s melting-pot cuisine includes specialties such as caponata, arancini and cannoli, and its wine-producing tradition dates to ancient times.

Valle dei Templi (1997) is one of the most outstanding examples of Greater Greece art and architecture, The site is located in Agrigento.
Villa Romana del Casale (1997) is a Roman villa built in the first quarter of the 4th century and located about 3 km (2 mi) outside the town of Piazza Armerina. It contains the richest, largest and most complex collection of Roman mosaics in the world.
Aeolian Islands (2000) are a volcanic archipelago in the Tyrrhenian Sea, named after the demigod of the winds Aeolus.
Late Baroque Towns of the Val di Noto (2002) represent the culmination and final flowering of Baroque art in Europe. It includes several towns: Caltagirone, Militello in Val di Catania, Catania, Modica, Noto, Palazzolo Acreide, Ragusa and Scicli.
Necropolis of Pantalica (2005) is a large necropolis in Sicily with over 5,000 tombs dating from the 13th to the 7th centuries BC. Syracuse is notable for its rich Greek history, culture, amphitheatres and architecture. They are situated in south-eastern Sicily.
Mount Etna (2013) is one of the most active volcanoes in the world and is in an almost constant state of activity and generated myths, legends and naturalistic observation from Greek, Celts and Roman classic and medieval times.

Palermo e Monreale Sicilia
Oggi vi porto alla scoperta di Palermo nella mia Sicilia. In occasione Dell’ 1 maggio 2017, sono andato due giorni in viaggio nel capoluogo della regione Sicilia. Una due giorni all’insegna dei monumenti e del cibo tipico di Palermo.
Il viaggio ha avuto inizio a Monreale, comune in provincia di Palermo in cui, non sapevo, in occasione del primo maggio, i carretti Siciliani sfilano per le vie del centro, insieme agli sbandieratori in occasione di una festa. Nel video si vedono infatti i carretti tipici Siciliani.
Subito dopo aver visto questa parata sono entrato nella famosissima cattedrale di Monreale in cui è possibile ammirare il Cristo Pantocratore. La chiesa è davvero stupenda ed è bello salire sopra la chiesa ed ammirare tutto il panorama della conca d’oro (Palermo).
Dopo Monreale sono andato alla volta di Palermo, e dopo aver assaggiato un bel panino con le Panelle, mi sono diretto nel quartiere centrale, iniziando il viaggio lungo la via Macheda, proseguendo fino all’incrocio dei quattro canti, visitando la piazza con al centro la fontana delle vergogne e le chiese adiacenti. Successivamente sempre proseguendo lungo il viale Macheda ho visitato il teatro massimo di Palermo, il terzo teatro più grande in Europa. Molto bello, ne vale la pena entrare dentro e fare un piccolo tour interno.
Successivamente ho visitato uno dei monumenti più belli della città di Palermo, ovvero la cattedrale, sia esternamente che internamente è davvero incantevole, e proprio di fronte alla cattedrale, ho assaggiato un buonissimo cannolo alla ricotta Siciliano ed una arancina.
Mangiare street food a Palermo è d’obbligo, tantissimi sono i prodotti che si possono gustare, dalle Panelle e crocchette, al panino con la meusa, all’arancina, al cannolo con la ricotta e tanto altro ancora, se vi trovate in viaggio in quelle zone non potrete fare a meno che assaggiarle.
Anche se non viene mostrato in video, sono andato a vedere le catacombe dei frati cappuccini, il mercato della vucciria (presente in video) e quello di ballaro, anche questi sono dei posti molto frequentati dai viaggiatori che visitano la città.
Se vi rimane tempo andate a fare una passeggiata nella zona costiera di Palermo!!!
