Monza is a city and comune on the River Lambro, a tributary of the Po in the Lombardy region of Italy, about 15 kilometres north-northeast of Milan. It is the capital of the Province of Monza and Brianza. Monza is best known for its Grand Prix motor racing circuit, the Autodromo Nazionale Monza, which hosts the Formula One Italian Grand Prix with a massive Italian support tifosi for the Ferrari team. On 11 June 2004 Monza was designated the capital of the new province of Monza and Brianza.     Monza Park is a large walled park in Monza, Lombardy, northern Italy. Extending over an area of 688 hectares , it is the first largest walled park in Europe, and the fourth largest enclosed one after la Mandria of Venaria Reale , Richmond Park in London and Phoenix Park in Dublin . The park was commissioned by Napoleon's stepson Eugène de Beauharnais, during the French occupation of northern Italy, as external part of the garden of his royal palace ; it was completed in 1808. The park is crossed in its southern sector by the Lambro river. Some one third of the park is occupied by woods, while the rest is kept as lawn.
