Clifton is an affluent suburb of Cape Town, South Africa. It is an exclusive residential area and is home to some of the most expensive real estate in South Africa, with dwellings nestled on cliffs that have sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean.
Clifton was rated as one of the Top Ten Beaches by the cable and satellite television network Discovery Travel Channel in 2003 and 2004 and has received Blue Flag status. In 2005 and 2006 it was rated by Forbes.com at number 8 in the Top 10 Topless beaches in the World. Clifton is neighbored by the suburbs of Camps Bay and Bantry Bay.
The area has a set of 4 beaches which are frequently used destinations for both locals and tourists. The beaches, which are named from 1st to 4th, are separated by falls of granite boulders and have almost pure white granitic sand. The four beaches of Clifton are one of the few areas well protected from the notorious south-easterly wind, which has a great deal to do with its popularity with bathers. A fifth beach, before First Beach, called Moses Beach (so-called because of the papyrus plants that grow along it), appears and disappears as the sand is washed in and out with the seasons. Fourth beach (to the South), is the most populated and glamorous venue;[5] attracting families. Yachts anchor off Fourth beach, especially on summer weekends. Third beach is known as a venue for gay culture. Second beach is populated by students playing beach volleyball and beach bats. First beach, to the north, the smallest beach, draws a mixed crowd of locals and surfers. Clifton Beach was noted as one of Discovery.com's best beaches by region.
Clifton's 4th beach has also been awarded the Blue Flag award in recognition of its environmental, safety and tourist standards.

Anyway, so Jay took me an ultimate street food tour in Accra, here’s all the amazing food we ate:
Red red (bean stew) and plantain - This was the first stop, a small stall that Jay has been eating at for years. They fry plantain, and then serve the plantain along with beans stewed in palm nut oil, and combine it with gari, which are cassava flakes. The result, is a filling and very satisfying combination of sweet and tangy plantains with salty oily beans. What’s key as Jay explained to me is the palm nut oil, which provides so much oil and fragrance. It was delicious, and a perfect way to begin this Ghanaian street food tour in Accra!

Nima Market - Next we caught a taxi to Nima Market, known for its spices. We tried everything we could find, which was quite a lot of snacks here and there. The market was fantastic to walk around, full of action and energy.

Peace Chop Bar (Chop Bar - Local Ghanaian restaurant) - Finally, to end this street food tour of Ghana in Accra, we stopped back at the chop bar that we had visited earlier in the morning. Seeing the cooking was sensational, it only made me hungrier for lunch. By the time we arrived back, they had already sold out of a few dishes, but there was still plenty enough to choose from. I tried the banku with goat meat, and it was fantastic.

My experience thus far has been absolutely AMAZING! From the personal warm welcome from Michael, the general manager, to the extremely informative and accommodating staff. We arrived on grand opening day and by no means did any aspect of the hotel fall short of being just that GRAND!! And the icing on the cake is knowing that we were the first guest from the US to stay at the hotel...such an honor! Needless to say, our vacation was off to an awesome start!!
Minuses:
The AC Hotel is a lovely, newly opened hotel, and Management are doing their best to make one feel welcome. The artworks and room design is lovely and modern.
Unfortunately the hotel is rather difficult to get to. Signage application inside the V&A Waterfront has not been agreed.
Suggest you drive to the entrance of the very well indicated Westin Hotel, drive past to the circle and turn left.
Also difficult to walk to Waterfront but They have a great boat service to the Waterfront, great fun.
The rooms are lovely and large, cool lounge area and restaurants. Also small pool and gym.
This will be a hot place once the access issues is sorted.

46100 & 60009 Frolic Passed Flitwick with 'The York Yuletide Express' - 16/12/17
Saturday the 16th of December saw what would be the last steam special to feature on the channel in 2017, showcasing 46100 'Royal Scot' and 60009 'Union of South Africa' RTC's 'York Yuletide Express' from Ealing Broadway - York. Originally, 46233 'Duchess of Sutherland' was due to haul the Northbound section of the tour, however, the Princess Coronation suffered from a cracked flue tube in mid November and the PRCLT made the decision to withdraw 46233 from service early to repair her and subsequently repaint her over Christmas, therefore 'Royal Scot' was rostered for the tour.
46100 would depart from Ealing Broadway taking the line to Brent Curve Jn where she would join the Midland Mainline & run up to Melton Mowbray, picking up passengers at St Albans, Luton, Bedford & Kettering, where the first water stop would take place. From there it was onto Oakham & the Harringworth Viaduct, the longest masonry viaduct in Britain at 1,275 yards (1.166km) long & 60ft (18m) high. Following this, came Alfreton, the site of the second water stop. Through Pontefract Baghill & Church Fenton to join the East Coast Mainline & into York. 'Union of South Africa' would return the train via the same route with the water stops occurring at Barrow Hill North Jn and Kettering.
Once again, we see the train at Flitwick, with yet another disappointing northbound performance (prompting a location scouting trip over Christmas) from steam in the form of 46100, however the lighting couldn't have been better as 'Royal Scot' slid around the corner into the station with a ribbon of steam escaping from the safety valves, as evidence of the boiler's good health. Unfortunately, as I hadn't seen 46100 since June, I was a little busy concentrating on the engine than the video, which in turn is not quite how I would've liked it to turn out.
Another disappointment was that I was unable to see 60009 on the return, so I asked my friends Arron and Jude to step in and capture the A4 in my absence, and I was pleased I did. The train was unexpectedly delayed at Barrow Hill North Jn resulting in a 26 minute loss to the timetable at Chesterfield. Luckily, the 60009 was to make up all the time lost in the next 106 miles, running just 5 minutes down at Flitwick. Due to the delay, she is see passing exactly 12 hours after 46100 in the morning (at 08:30), 'Union of South Africa' is heard chiming through the station before streaking past the cameras on Platform 1 and 2, still accelerating from the passenger set down at Bedford, producing a more than adequate exhaust compared to the morning's uninspiring spectacle from 'Royal Scot'. 57314 was on the tail of the train for both 46100 and 60009 and was happily idling on both occasions.
It was nice to see 'Royal Scot' again for the first time since June and lovely to receive two pieces of footage of 'Union of South Africa' with a gorgeous blast from her 3 chime whistle, signalling the end of a year for mainline steam excursions on the West Coast, East Coast and Midland mainlines.
