Okmulgee is a city in Okmulgee County, Oklahoma, United States. The population at the 2010 census was 12,321, a loss of 5.4 percent since the 2000 census figure of 13,022. It has been the capital of the Muscogee Nation since the United States Civil War. The name is from the Creek word oki mulgee which means boiling waters in English. Other translations put it as babbling brook or 'Effluvium'. The site was chosen because of the nearby rivers and springs. Okmulgee is 38 miles south of Tulsa and 13 miles north of Henryetta via US-75.

Recreational opportunities at Dripping Springs Park include RV camping, tent camping, swimming, fishing, and boating. Facilities offered include group pavilions, grills, picnic areas, showers, lighted boat ramp, fishing dock, and an ADA comfort station. RV sites include electric, water, and sewer service.

2. Robbers Cave State Park Wilburton
Robbers Cave State Park is a state park in Latimer County, Oklahoma. It is located 5 miles north of Wilburton, Oklahoma, on State Highway 2. Originally named Latimer State Park, it received its current name in 1936. It is located in the scenic, hilly woodlands of the Sans Bois Mountains of southeast Oklahoma. This park is a favorite of rappellers, equestrians, hikers and outdoor lovers. The park and adjoining wildlife management area covers more than 8,000 acres and includes three lakes. It offers visitors acres of discovery and enjoyment including trout fishing in season, boating, hunting, mountain biking, trails for hikers and horses, sandstone cliffs for climbing and rappelling, and fall foliage viewing. Black Mesa State Park

Black Mesa is located in Oklahoma's panhandle along the tri-state border with Colorado and New Mexico. The nature preserve consists of approximately 1,600 acres where visitors can hike and enjoy 23 rare plants and eight rare animal species. The unique area marks the point where the Rocky Mountains meet the shortgrass prairie and many species are at the easternmost or westernmost point of their natural range. In addition to being an excellent location for wildlife watching, Black Mesa State Park boasts some of the darkest nighttime skies on publicly accessible land in the country. With lush forests, rocky bluffs and serene waters, the park boasts 1,100 acres of scenery. Hiking and Fishing are favorite some activities in Osage Hills State Park. A total of 23 tent sites and 20 RV sites with water and electricity hookups are options for a stay at Osage Hills State Park. Visitors can relax in one of eight cabins in the park, which were constructed of native stone by the Civilian Conservation Corp in the '30s. The park offers a picnic area and picnic pavilions, as well as comfort stations and a facility with modern bathhouses.
