Palakkad District is one of the 14 districts of the Indian state of Kerala. Also, it is the largest district in Kerala from 2006. The city of Palakkad is the district headquarters. Palakkad is bordered on the northwest by the Malappuram District, on the southwest by the Thrissur District, on the northeast by The Nilgiris District and on the east by Coimbatore district of Tamil Nadu. The district is 24.4% urbanized according to the census of 2011. The district is nicknamed the granary of Kerala and Rice bowl of Kerala.

  • 5. Malampuzha Dam Palakkad
    Malampuzha Dam is the largest reservoir in Kerala, located near Palakkad, in the state of Kerala in South India, built post independence by the then Madras state. Situated in the scenic hills of the Western Ghats in the background it is a combination of a masonry dam with a length of 1,849 metres and an earthen dam with a length of 220 metres. The dam is 355 feet high and crosses the Malampuzha River, a tributary of Bharathappuzha, Kerala's second longest river. There is a network of two canal systems that serve the dam's reservoir of 42,090 hectares.

  • 6. Phantom Rock Kerala
    Phantom Rock is one of the tourist destination close to Wayand resort in Ambalavayal in the Wayanad district of Kerala. It is an archaeological structure found seen rarely in the world. This rock is naturally resembles a skull, and thus it is known as Phantom Rock. This structure is situated 17 km from Kalpetta and can be reached by trekking only. It stands at the height of 2600 feet above sea level. It is near to Cheengeri Mala. Edakkal Caves is also nearby.
