The 10 Most Beautiful Places to Visit in Italy.
It’s amazing how many Italians don’t go abroad for their holidays. When I taught English in Rome I used to ask my students why they didn’t visit other countries. They simply replied: “Why would we? We have incredible culture, some of the best beaches in Europe and mountains to go skiing in the winter!” Italy is undoubtedly beautiful and I feel privileged to have spent three years of my life there. It’s a unique country where you are just as likely to find beauty in a quiet cobbled backstreet or a traditional trattoria than in its stunning beaches or extraordinary countryside. Using my experience of living in Italy I have compiled a list of ten places I feel are worth visiting. Some will be obvious, others maybe not so. Here is my personal list of 10 of the most beautiful places to visit in Italy…
Venice
Cinque Terre
Bologna
Florence and the Tuscany region
Rome
Sorrento & The Amalfi Coast
Sardinia
Puglia
Sicily

Sicily (Sicilia) is a rugged and attractive island on the southern tip of Italy, and is one of the country's 20 regions. It is separated from the mainland region of Calabria by the 5 km Straits of Messina. It can get very hot during the summer, so it is better to visit during spring and autumn, while it is still quite pleasant during winter.

Trekking in Sicily is going to expand. The Parks and the Nature Reserve are not very well organized but for this reason you'll have the opportunity to enjoy and discover the Sicilian Mountains and Nature. There are some wonderful trekkings that you can do to enjoy the beauty of the main Sicilian sites like Nebrodi mountains, Madonie mountains, Etna volcano, etc.
Visit the Salt Flats in Trapani where you will still see salt being made in the traditional way, by sweeping up the salt after the tide has gone out & then being ground down in ancient windmills.
Visit the popular seaside town of San Vito Lo Capo on the West Coast, famous for its sandy beach and where the low two story white Moorish architecture can be seen.
Visit Erice on the West Coast, the highest town in Sicily, with it's ancient stone walled city.
Visit Mazara Del Vallo on the South Coast for it's Tunisian Quarter.
Visit the Zingaro Reserve on the West Coast of Sicily for some of the best nature walks, natural beaches and examples of the dwarf palm that the area is famous for.
Visit the town of Noto on the South Coast, a Unesco World Heritage site due to the best examples of Baroque Architecture left in Europe today.

Italians are big fans of the seaside, escaping to local beaches for the day or often returning to the same resort town year after year for an extended holiday.
That said, with a few exceptions, Italy does not have a surfeit of glorious beaches. Nor is it particularly well served by the UK’s traditional big sun and sea tour operators, at least when compared with Spain, Greece or Turkey. But you can still have a great time on the Italian coast.
See here for our pick of the top 10 beach holidays in Italy
Where it can hold its own is Sardinia, which has some of the best beaches in Europe, never mind Italy. This makes it more than usually popular with Italians (and Germans and Scandinavians), so book Sardinian beach holidays, as well as any flights or ferries, well in advance.

Even for mainland Italians, Sardinia is a world apart, so it is worth seeking guidance from a specialist such as Sardatur (see “Tour operators”). Choose between small, boutique and luxury hotels on tiny bays, with sickles of white sand, or chic, family- and couple-friendly resorts with activities, such Forte Village, Chia Laguna, Le Dune, Romazzino and the Flamingo.
Hill-town Taormina is the island’s best-known resort. It is attractive, but expensive, and has relatively poor beaches on the coast immediately below the town. Cefalù is a pleasing resort town with a fine historic core. The south coast has many empty beaches, notably at Eraclea Minoa (plus Camerina, Donnalucata, and Punta Secca), but is a rather flat, lifeless shore. Key emerging destinations are the smaller islands, particularly Pantelleria and the Egadi and Aeolian archipelagos.
After Sardinia, many Italians plump for the Adriatic coast, lined for most of its length south of Ravenna with good sand, safe seas and unpretentious small-town resorts. If you want a gentle, Italian family-style seaside holiday, this is the place. Just avoid Rimini, a big and sometimes brash resort. Beaches near Monte Conero, near Ancona, are standouts.
Puglia, too, the “heel” of Italy’s “boot”, has a decent but often rocky coastline. While the Gargano peninsula is busy, the almost Greek-looking Salentino peninsula is quieter, with especially good beaches around Gallipoli and south of Otranto.

Sicily 7 days Road trip
We traveled to Sicily in september 2017 and stayed for one week. It is a beautiful island and rich in historical sites, delicious food and of course beautiful beaches. It is also the largest mediterranean island with Europe's largest active volcano Mount Etna.
We flew from Trieste to Catania and rented a car there. The road trip started!!
All the cities and places we have visited along the road:
Catania, Giardini Naxos, Mount Etna, Taormina, Messina, Cefalu, Palermo, Monreale, San Vito Lo Capo, Erice, Segesta, Trapani.
We finished our trip in Trapani and also flew home from there.
It was my third time in Sicily and I will definitely come back again. If you visit you have to try delicious Cannolo. We love beautiful Italia.
I hope you enjoy the video.

Rabbit Beach, Lampedusa islands Of Sicily, Italy
Rabbit Beach, in Sicily, is the best beach in the world.
This is certainly true if you trust what was said by the voters and real-life travellers and normal tourists of travel website TripAdvisor in 2013. In fact, though it doesn't win every year, the beach is consistently voted by the website's users as one of the best beaches in the world. Visitors note its “crystal clear” water and “soft sand” as some of the main selling points and others note that it is “hard to believe you are not somewhere tropical”.
Located on the island of Lampedusa, next to the tiny Isola dei Conigli (or “Rabbit Island”), Rabbit Beach is set in the Mediterranean Sea and paints an exceptionally beautiful picture with the white sands being lapped by the azure water. If this sounds like your cup of tea (and why wouldn't it), just find a vacation rental in Sicily and pay a visit to this famous beach.
The whole island of Lampedusa is beautiful and fascinating, however, not just this one beach. It's not the place to go to for mile-a-minute adventures but its is steeped in history and natural beauty.
The island has been inhabited by quite a lot of different nationalities and tribes over the centuries, including the Romans, Arabs and Greeks, and there are lots of things to see and do as a result, from prehistoric huts to Roman ruins, underwater sculptures to hiking, scuba-diving to fishing.
Lampedusa also has quite a lot of beaches, not just Rabbit Beach, and they are all some of the most charming and perfect in the world. Many, including Rabbit Beach, have become quite famous over the years and can be rather crowded during the high season and at certain times of the day and week, in particular, but you won't have to travel far to find a hidden gem.
There are plenty more beaches on the island which are still hidden from the tourists and are mostly known only to locals. Most of these beaches are also really good for swimming, as the waves are not very strong and perfect for families with kids.
Make sure not to miss out on the rest of the natural beauty of the island – it's not just limited to the coast and sea!
The island of Lampedusa is quite lush and is rich in local flora and fauna. There are several different nature and hiking trails around the island, marked and unmarked, and these offer amazing views of the sea.
In other words, if you want to slow things down, immerse yourself in nature and truly relax, this is one of the best parts of Italy to do so. - Rabbit Beach, Lampedusa islands Of Sicily, Italy Source:
