Paonta Sahib - peaceful place in Himachal

Paonta Sahib is one of the highly revered Sikh pilgrimage sites located in the state of Himachal Pradesh. Paonta can be reached from Dehradun or Yamuna Nagar by bus or taxi. There are some buses to other cities like Chandigarh, Delhi,etc. Nearest railway stations are Dehradun and Yamuna Nagar while nearest airports are Dehradun and Chandigarh.

The name Paonta Sahib is derived from original concept of Paontika which means 'paon+Tika' the place where 10th Sikh Guru Gobind Singh stayed for over 4.5 years. You can find his weapons and pens at the collection in the Gurudwara.

There are also many educational institutes here like the Himachal group's Dental college, Hospital, Himachal Institute of technology and also the temporary campus of Indian Insitute of Management Sirmaur or IIM Sirmaur. There are also pharma companies like Zeon Industries and Mankind pharma.

PONTA SAHIB is located in Himachal Pradesh. It is in the south of SIRMOUR district of himachal pradesh on NH 7. This Gurdwara was built in memory of Guru Gobind Singh ji, the tenth guru of sikhs. The Dasam Granth was written here by Guru Gobind Singh Ji. It is 50km from Dehradun. Beautiful road goes through small villages and Barrage on Yamuna River.
Asan Barrage is also in the route of PONTA SAHIB. Boating and water sports are famous there. During monsoon it is not accessible.
