CN Tower
At a height of 553m (1,815ft), the CN Tower is the defining symbol of this lakefront city. On a clear day, it offers stunning views of up to 120km (75 miles) across the surrounding cityscape and Lake Ontario. Glass-fronted elevators (one with a newly installed glass floor) bring visitors to the main section (at an equivalent to 114 storeys high) where a terrifying glass floor enables visitors to stare 342m (1,122ft) straight down. A more leisurely view can be had from the revolving 360 Restaurant on the floor above. Another set of elevators leads to the SkyPod, 33 storeys further up. There is also a group of entertainment venues at the base of the tower, including a motion-simulator ride. A new aquarium is scheduled to open at the base of the tower in July 2013.
Opening Times: Usually from early morning until 2200 or 2300. Opening hours are adjusted seasonally, so visitors should call the tower to check.

Fort York
Fort York harks back to the days when Toronto, then as British as afternoon tea, was named York. As a colony, the city occasionally had to deal with revolutionaries to the south, so Fort York was founded in 1793 to ensure British control of Lake Ontario. Most of the buildings, however, date from 1814 because, during the War of 1812, the evacuating British blew up the gunpowder magazine - an explosion so unexpectedly large that it killed 10 of their own men and 250 advancing Americans, and destroyed a good deal of the fort. Highlights of Fort York include blockhouses, barracks, officers' quarters, costumed staff and period demonstrations.
Opening Times: Daily 1000-1700 (late May-early Sep); Mon-Fri 1000-1600, Sat-Sun 1000-1700 (early Sep-late May). Several short closed periods throughout the year.

Ripley's Aquarium of Canada
Located in the heart of downtown Toronto, next door to the iconic CN Tower, Ripley's Aquarium of Canada -a $130 million facility now under construction - will open this summer. The aquarium will feature more than 13,500 exotic sea and freshwater creatures and a unique 96m-long (315 ft) moving walkway through an tunnel set beneath a shark lagoon and a tropical reef tank.

Royal Ontario Museum (ROM)
The ROM is one of the most exciting museums in Canada. Its striking facade alone will take your breath away, but deeper within, the museum houses excellent collections featuring almost 6 million artefacts. The exhibits representing East Asia include a renowned collection of Chinese art, with wall paintings, snuff bottles and ceramic head cushions, as well as the only complete example of a Ming tomb in the west. Other levels handle the life sciences, the ancient Mediterranean and a Canadian heritage collection. Brechin to Beausoleil Island - Ontario Bike Tour #2 - Day 2 of 10
This video summarizes Day 2 of my 10 day solo bicycle trip along the shores of Lake Simcoe and Lake Huron in Southern Ontario, Canada. On the mainland I rode from the Point of Mara to Honey Harbour before proceeding by boat to Georgian Bay Islands National Park. All of the clips in the video were filmed on Saturday July 21, 2018.
2012 Whitby to Orillia bike ride:
Starting from The Point of Mara Resort and Trailer Park I headed northwest along Ramara Road 47 into the community of Brechin where I turned left and continued North West along highway 12. I turned onto Concession Rd 7, then Sideroad 20, then Concession rd 8, Muley Point Rd, Concession Rd 10, Plum Point Rd, Sideroad 25 and Concession 11, Balsam Road, and Courtland St. I got back onto Highway 12 in Atherley and rode across the narrows between lane Lake Simcoe and Lake Couchiching. Now within the City of Orillia I followed the waterfront trail which took me past Tudhope Park which is the home of the annual Mariposa Folk festival. I turned left and headed Southwest when I got to Mississaga St and passed through Orillia's historic downtown. I turned left onto West Street and then continued west on Coldwater st. After a quick stop at the bank and the grocery store I passed over highway 11 and continued west along Highway 12 until I got to Fairground Rd. I then followed Division Rd W, Wainman Line, and Marchmont Rd until I reached Town Line which took me northwest. Eventually this road merges with Upper Big Chute Rd where it crosses over the Black River. I then continued northwest on Quarry Rd which took me past a large solar energy site (RE Waubaushene 4 Solar Project) and also the Lafarge Coldwater Quarry site. I continued along St Amant Rd which took me into the community of Port Severn which the home of Lock 45 on the Trent-Severn waterway. I ate lunch at The Grill at Bush's Marina then continued west to pass under highway 400. The road changes names to Honey Harbour Rd. I followed the road all the way to the community of Honey Harbour which is an access point to Georgian Bay Islands National Park. I took a water taxi with my bike over to the Cedar Spring Campground on Beausoleil Island. After purchasing a camping permit, I dropped off most of my gear and then went to explore the island. I rode the Huron Trail north to Lighthouse Point, then hiked a loop of the Rockview, Portage and Massassaga trails. I returned to Cedar Spring just in time to join the Medicine Walk provided by the park. Afterwards I went for a quick swim, cooked some dinner on the barbeque and got ready for bed.

The bike I used for this trip is a New York made Linear Recumbent Bike which I believe is from around 2004. I carried my gear in 2 Giant Waterproof Panniers, and mounted my tent and sleeping pad on the top of the rack.
