Pöytyä is a municipality of Finland located in the Southwest Finland region. The municipality has a population of 8,347 and covers an area of 773.69 square kilometres of which 23.68 km2 is water. The population density is 11.13 inhabitants per square kilometre . The municipality is unilingually Finnish. The neighbouring municipality of Karinainen was merged into Pöytyä in the beginning of 2005. The neighbouring municipality of Yläne was merged into Pöytyä in the beginning of 2009. Pöytyä's neighbouring municipalities are Aura, Eura, Lieto, Loimaa, Marttila, Mynämäki, Oripää and Säkylä.

Nuuksio National Park is one of Finland's 40 national parks. Established in 1994, the park spreads over an area of forests and lakes in Espoo, Kirkkonummi and Vihti. North-west from Helsinki, it is the second-closest national park to the capital behind the recently established Sipoonkorpi National Park. The name is derived from the Nuuksio district of Espoo. Located less than 30 kilometers from downtown Helsinki, the park can easily be reached by public transportation. Bus 245A leaves from Espoon keskus to Nuuksionpää and Kattila during daytime. Within the park there are eight marked trails for hiking. These trails vary in length and difficulty, being between 1.5 km and 17 km long. Knitting Finnish grandmas a huge hit in Japan

This year one of the biggest Christmas events in Japan got slightly different visitors as two knitting grandmothers Salli and Soili flew to Nagoya from their little Finnish village, Pöytyä. They became a media hit on the first day of the event knitting in live tv show and posing in three biggest newspapers of the area. The event takes place in Nagoya’s biggest department store Takashimaya where the grannies will be knitting wool hats for six days. “I saw you in the news this morning!” was heard many times during the opening day. Retkikertomus yhden yön reissulta Kurjenrahkan kansallispuistoon. Eletään kevään ensimmäisiä lämpimiä päiviä. Vieraillaan Kurjenpesällä ja ikivanhalla Kuhankuonon rajakivellä. Matka jatkuu Lakjärvelle, jossa yövytään riippumatossa. Tehdään ruokaa nuotiolla. Paluumatkalla kuljetaan Paltanvuoren, Pukkipalon aarnimetsän ja Takaniitunvuoren kautta.

Turun seudun moottoriurheilijoiden oripään enduro-polku 9.4.2016. Ensimmäinen kerta kesärenkailla ja oripään enduroradalla. Talvisäätöjä pois kovasti yritettiin säätää. Rata 10/10, meno jäykkää kuin mikä.
