Puerto Madryn is a city in the province of Chubut in Argentine Patagonia. It is the capital of the Viedma Department, and has about 57,571 inhabitants according to the last census in 2001.
Puerto Madryn is protected by the Golfo Nuevo, which is formed by the Península Valdés and the Punta Ninfas. It is an important centre for tourists visiting the natural attractions of the Península Valdés and the coast.
A new shopping mall in the city centre has helped tourism significantly, making Puerto Madryn a more attractive place for both international and domestic tourists visiting Patagonia. It is twinned with Nefyn, a small town on the Llŷn Peninsula in North Wales, the result of its enduring link with Welsh culture since the Welsh settlement in Argentina. The first of a two-Test tour to Argentina by the Wales national rugby union team was played in 2006 in Puerto Madryn, a 27–25 win for Argentina. Puerto Madryn is home to two football clubs; Club Social y Atlético Guillermo Brown, who play in Nacional B and Deportivo Madryn that currently play in Torneo Argentino B.
A basketball team, Deportivo Puerto Madryn, plays in the Liga Nacional de Básquetbol (LNB). Their home arena is known as the Deportivo Puerto Madryn Arena.
El Tehuelche Airport is located 10 km northwest of the city centre. Commercial flights from Buenos Aires, Ushuaia, and other Argentinian cities are available. Most tourists fly into Trelew Airport as flights into Puerto Madryn are restricted as a result of environmental concerns.

Eat in Patagonia trip
======================
In Patagonia, there are plenty of unique and delicious things to eat. As in all of Argentina, beef is important, but particular to the area is the cordero, lamb, which is of a very unique flavor (supposedly because the Patagonian lamb eats a unique mixture of herbs found only in Patagonia) especially when grilled in the typical parrilla (grill).
Dulce de leche, similar to caramel and made by adding sugar to milk and cooking it, is used on nearly all desserts, including facturas (pastries eaten for breakfast or tea, or to accompany mate, filled with dulce de leche, dulce de membrillo, crema pastelera, roquefort, or many other things), alfajores (traditional cookies that consist of tiny biscuits stuck together), and many other Argentine desserts.

Argentina Travel Guide - Scuba Diving in Patagonia
Learn what it takes for scuba diving in the cold waters of Patagonia.
When you think of Patagonia you probably think of is mountains, glaciers and exotic animals. What you probably do not think of is scuba diving. With water that is only fifteen celcius, that is really cold, you need to take proper percaution. That is why I am going to talk to Fransisco, one of the best diving instructors in Pueto Madre, to find out everything we need to know.
At the beginning when I was around 20 years old, I came here and I began to study marine biologist. But you never have a chance to get into the water and to be really close to the animals. And working like this, I have seen all in the water. I have been near to the whales. They are really beautiful big animals, so friendly. Diving in water so cold is quite an experience for all the divers that come here to Patagonia. Because sometimes it is very easy to learn how to dive, for example in the Caribian Sea or in the Red Sea. So if you want to get to the next level it is really important to come and dive and try what it is to dive in really cold water.
You can see a lot of different kind of sea grass. You can see sea stars, different kinds of fishes, like salmons, medows, togoes. And the great thing that we have here is the sea mammals. For example we have sea lions. We have big white whales. We have killer whales or orcas. We have dolphins like the dusky dolphins. All the divers that want to dive by their own, they have to be certified divers. But we have another chance here in Pueto Madre, that is what we call the Discovery Scuba Diving or About Decent. The only thing that you have to do is put this suit on okay. And after that you will get into the boat. We will have a small talk about some things that change in the water. For example, how to equalize my ears, how to breathe. And after that you will hold the rope with me or another instructor. One on one, so it is very safe to do that.
Fransisco really makes it sound like diving in freezing water is really worth it. I am Ande Wanderer, showing you Patagonia.
