10 Best Places to Visit in Russia.
Russia, once the largest and most powerful member of the former USSR, nonetheless remains a fascinating country to visit. It is a country of contrasts, from great subtropical beaches to bitterly cold winter regions in the north. The east may have fewer people, but its lovely cities are among the most popular places to visit in Russia and can hold their own against the west. Russia is steeped in history everywhere a traveler goes, from vicious battles to great classical music and literature. And almost everywhere visitors can see examples of magnificent art, not only in museums but also in its churches.

Take in the many splendors of the nation’s capital when you arrive at Washington, D.C.
Your Washington, D.C. tour should start at the National Mall, where you’ll find monuments, memorials, and government buildings instead of tons of shopping. First up is Chela Tequila and Tacos, one of the city’s best Mexican restaurants. Have an El Sully beer or one of their 50 varieties of tequila and mezcal with their Drunken Fish taco, Crispy Pork Belly taco, and ground beef taco. Don’t miss out on the truffle mushroom fundido and creamy cauliflower with garlic aioli! It’s all delicious!
Chela Tequila and Tacos:
Next is Orange County Brewers, a brewhouse that serves lots of different beers with unique flavors. Have a slice of pizza while sampling a flight of their incredible craft beers, including Hops Down Schwarzbier, Bock That Ass Up, Dankster’s Paradise East and West Coast IPAs, and an amazing espresso stout.
Orange County Brewers:
For exquisite fine dining, try 310 Lakeside’s meaty crab cakes and creamy baked brie appetizers, and for your main course, go with the crispy duck or salmon, both of which come with a sublime plum sauce. For dessert, go with the decadent The Oreo Delight. Your taste buds will thank you!
310 Lakeside:
Next is Ivanhoe Park Brewing Company, an independent craft brewery north of downtown. Their commitment to high-quality ingredients is evident in their beers like the Toboggan Blonde Ale, the guava-flavored Guavacation Sour, the roasty Tupac Shaporter, and the incedible Saison Farmhouse Ale. They’re all outstanding!
Ivanhoe Park Brewing Co.:
For a quintessential Florida experience, you have to take an airboat ride on Lake Toho with Wild Willy’s Airboat Tours. There, you’ll get to see wildlife like alligators, turtles, snakes, frogs, deer, otters, and a lot more up close and personal. It’s a fun way to learn about the Florida Everglades!
Wild Willy’s Airboat Tours:
Next up is The Catfish Place in St. Cloud, which serves Southern staples like fried catfish, snapper, hush puppies, and coleslaw, as well as traditional Floridian cuisine like fried alligator tail, fried turtle, and fried frog legs. Try them with the Tiger Sauce, tartar sauce, melted butter, and local honey served on the side. They are unbelievably good!
The Catfish Place:
Don’t miss out on taking a paddleboat ride on Lake Eola in downtown Orlando! As you paddle, you’ll see a stunning Chinese pagoda, skyscrapers, the Walt Disney Amphitheatre, and more, and you may be able to spot native animals like turtles, swans, and other birds. It’s also a nice workout!
Lake Eola Park:
If you’re in the mood for authentic Spanish food, visit Ceviche Tapas Bar & Restaurant. Enjoy a Spanish craft beer with their flavorful shrimp, octopus, tuna, and Casa ceviches; tender braised oxtail; and succulent Mariscos paella. Don’t forget the flan for dessert!
Ceviche:
Next up is Orlando Brewing, which is one of only six organic breweries in the U.S. The quality of their ingredients comes through in their English Pale Ale, Grapefruit Pale Ale, and Papa Midnight Imperial Stout. Without question, one of Orlando’s best.
Orlando Brewing:
Last but not least is Broken Cauldron Brewery and Taproom, which consists of two different breweries under the same roof: Broken Strings Brewery and Black Cauldron Brewery. I highly recommend the light Country Road Lager; Liquid Vinyl Black IPA; Red Mosquito Amber IPA; and Demon of the Fall. If you love great beer, you’ll be in heaven here!

Fun in CHISHANG, Taitung County (台東縣池上好玩)
In this video we are going on a bicycle ride to the Mr Brown Avenue and on a raft trip on Dapo Pond. We also have lunch at a famous rice restaurant and have coffee at a very nice cafe.

Travel in Taiwan (2018-11-12)
By Rick Charette
Just outside of Chishang town, on the cycling loop, is one of the rift valley’s most photographed roads, Bolang Dadao (“Mr Brown Avenue”), made famous in a Mr. Brown Coffee commercial and an EVA Air commercial starring Japanese-Taiwanese pop-idol heartthrob Takeshi Kaneshiro.
The loop also takes you around small Dapo Lake, directly east/southeast of the town. “Chishang” literally means “on the lake.” The tree-surrounded body of water is at the end of the suggested cycle route, and is a pleasant oasis at which to cool off after all your pedaling.
You have two options for getting right out onto the lake, renting a pedal boat or a raft. With the rafts, which have sun-protection roofs, you do your own paddling. You’re also provided with a long bamboo pole that will enable you to push the raft, gondolier-style, into the thick forest of lotus plants on the lake’s east side. Dapo Lake was long used for lotus and water chestnut cultivation.
Many Taiwanese swear that Chishang-area rice is Taiwan’s best, and around the island you’ll see signs above small eateries proclaiming Chishang Biandang. Biandang is the Mandarin Chinese rendering of the Japanese bento, or boxed lunch; the use of Chishang is a promise that Taiwan’s best rice has been used as your boxed-lunch bed. Two main reasons are given for Chishang’s rice quality: the pure, mineral-rich waters from the central mountains distributed by the local irrigation-channel system, and the region’s superior soil, created via silting from two young mountain systems that have sprung up “fresh from the sea,” in geological terms, on the east and west sides.
Near the aforementioned bike-rental operations is the iconic Chishang Riceball Museum, which is in fact a restaurant-cum-museum. The old blue-painted railway cars outside the large two-story wood-façade facility make finding this spot a cinch. The museum/restaurant interior is stuffed with old-time farm-country memorabilia.
Explanation for the passenger carriages parked out front: During Taiwan’s period of Japanese rule, Chishang rice was sent to the Japanese emperor as tribute. Building on this quality, Chishang bento/biandang were developed, which were sold from the local train-station platform to passengers on passing trains – a practice followed around the island. Chishang biandang is the specialty at Chishang Riceball Museum, and the carriages are “outdoor” dining spaces. Each biandang typically contains, at a minimum, a chicken leg (or pork cutlet or fish), a sausage, a soy-stewed egg and beancurd, pickled cabbage, and rice.
Explanation for “riceball” in the museum name: In days past, people would often bring what was called a “riceball” to work for lunch. This was rice, stuffed with such goodies as meat chunks and pickled vegetables, that was usually wrapped in a banana leaf.

My gourmand vote for best coffees in the rift valley goes to Chishang’s No. 9 Gourmet Coffee. The “9” comes from “Provincial Highway No. 9,” and the café is in the very first building as you enter Chishang from the north along said highway. The husband in the owner-duo is an interior designer, and he has let his creative juices flow in his pet project. Enter via a boardwalk over a mini-wetland pond into a quiet oasis of red-brick walls, exposed piping, coffee roasting/grinding machinery, and global-explorer decorations. The various coffees are artworks in themselves, and tasty food treats such as fresh-made waffles and pizza are on the menu. The rooftop-terrace seating gives you an invigorating valley panorama.

Trails of Point Lobos. Part 1. Gibson beach, Bird Island, China Cove, Weston Beach.
Important. Even though the radiation levels on the beaches of Point Lobos (Gibson beach and Hidden beach) are within a norm, our measurements indicate that it is noticeably higher than the levels we measured in other locations in central California. We feel like spending too much time at these beaches and lying on the sand/gravel should not be recommended. Remember the dose depends on both the level and the duration.
Natural background radiation is usually below 60 CPM and 100 CPM is the alert lever according to radiationnetwork, com
Readings for Gibson beach (08-19-2017): 15, 24, 33, 26 CPM
Readings for Hidden beach (08-19-2017): 49, 29, 39 CPM

The park is quite popular, but the parking space is limited and you have to be really lucky to get the spot if you arrive at the moment when somebody leaves. Most of the visitors resort to parking along the highway and walking to the entrance. We divide the park in two parts: south and north and it is impossible to cover both in a one-day-trip – you would have to walk the whole day long. Today we will show you the south portion of the park by walking along the shore and visiting Gibson beach, Bird Island, China cove beach and Hidden beach.
Although the main attraction of this place is coastal line, a walk in the woods among the pines is also quite pleasant. The South Plateau trail is 0.7 miles to Gibson beach. We will climb a few hills and cross a few creeks. As always, beware of poisonous oak and poisonous ivy – just enjoy scenery without touching the plants. It’s safer anyway.
Very soon the trail brings you to a cliff with a nice view of Gibson beach. The old stairs are now abandoned (destroyed) but the new ones are very steep and I’m not sure if they are for everybody, though most of the people will still be able to climb down and up.
The sand of Gibson beach is clean and bright – it consists of white quartz grains originated likely from the nearby gray rocks similar to granite but called GRANO-DIO-RITE due to mineral composition.
The radioactivity level was a bit elevated – on the safe side but still close to upper range of what’s considered normal.
Marine life at Point Lobos is diverse and you may spot some shells or marine plants and animals on the beach.
Let’s continue to explore rocky shores along the so called Bird Island trail. There is indeed an island occupied by the Brandt’s cormorants and Western gulls. It’s in between Gibson beach and China cove. The trail makes a loop north of Pelican Point and, while walking on this loop, you can see beautiful rocky shores – an excellent place for a pirate hideout.
There are few small parking areas along the roads and the parking area near Bird Island has picnic tables.
Round spotted rocks at Hidden beach have volcanic origin and named basaltic ANDESITE. The inclusions are crystals formed during slow cooling – the slower the cooling, the larger crystals could be formed.
The park has lots of areas with easy access to the shore – a perfect place to explore tidal pools and check out sea life – turban snails, occasional sea stars, crabs, anemones, limpets sticking to the rocks and of course, sneaky crabs. Trace fossils can be found in the gray layers of petrified sea sediments, which are millions of years old.
Sea lion point trail led us to a relatively large parking lot.
The last part of our trip will be in the Monterey pine forest. Trees here are mostly young and covered with lace lichen, the official lichen of the state of California. The lichen creates an impression of walking in a fairy tale forest. It’s really cool. The trail is actually called lace lichen trail, by the way. 3 quarters of a mile and we will reach the park entrance.
Point Lobos has a very interesting history from the times it was occupied by Native Americans and later by fishermen and whale hunters. But we will talk about that when we will show you the northern part of Point Lobos which, in our view, is even more grand and picturesque. We have cool footage of new born harbor seal pups as well as a bunch of artifacts from whale hunting era. So, subscribe to stay in touch and good luck in your travels.

Top 10 Snowiest Cities on Earth
10. Buffalo: Located just east of Lake Erie, which borders the winter wonderland known as Canada, Buffalo experiences more snow than most major Canadian cities, which tend to be known for long, snowy winters. Buffalo residents also experience increased production of snow due to the meteorological pattern known as “lake-effect snow”, which drastically increases overall snowfall.
9. Rochester: located fairly close to Canada, south of Lake Ontario, Rochester deals with large amounts of lake-effect snow that occasionally leads to blizzards. Sustained winds that exceeded 60 mph battered the regions, blowing snow from the lake. Snow drifts of up to 30 feet accumulated in some areas.
8. Akita: Home of Akita Castle, a fortification built around 733 A.D., Akita has a population of more than 320,000 residents. It achieved the designation of a “core city” of Japan in 1997. The first two months of the year tend to dump the most snow on the people of Akita, with an average of 54.3 inches in January and 42.5 inches in February – over 90% of its average annual snowfall.
7. Saguenay: Saguenay is located about 120 miles north of Quebec City, capital of the province of Quebec. Formed through a merger of four smaller cities – La Baie, Laterriere, Chicoutimi and Jonquiere – Saguenay has a population of more than 144,000 Francophones living close to the Saguenay River and Lac Saint-Jean.
6. Syracuse: Syracuse is located in the state of New York, situated close to a lake – in this case both Lake Ontario and Onondaga Lake. Metropolitan Syracuse has a population of more than 144,000 in the city with more than 662,000 people living in the surrounding metropolitan region.
5. Quebec City: The second biggest city in the province of Quebec, Quebec City is one of the oldest cities in North America and features some of the most beautiful architecture and culture inspired by the city’s French and European roots.. Quebec celebrates the winter with the annual Quebec Winter Carnival. This year marks the carnival’s 60th anniversary.
4. St. John’s: St. John’s is located in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador and receives the most snow on average than any major Canadian city. This city is believed to be the oldest in North America and sprung from some of the first wave of settlements from European interlopers.
3. Toyama: This area of Japan receives so much snow on an annual basis that that the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route – Yuki no Otani – features giant walls of snow on both sides that tower over all drivers, completely blocking the view. Toyama is the capital of the Toyay Prefecture and is home to over 417,000 residents.
2. Sapporo: Sapporo is the largest city on this list, with a population of nearly 2 million. The fourth biggest city in Japan is the second snowiest on earth, with nearly 17 feet of snow per year on average. Similar to Quebec City, Sapporo puts on an annual festival, known as the Sapporo Snow Festival, welcoming about two million tourists during the event.
1. Aomori City: By far the snowiest city on earth is Aomori City in Aomori Prefecture, Japan. This location averages a whopping 26 feet of snow per year, more than a 100 inches more than Sapporo, the next snowiest city. The reason Aomori City receives an incredible amount of snow is its location in high elevation among the Hakkoda Mountains, Aomori Bay and Mutsu Bay, combining cold northern air with snow production aided by adjacent bodies of water.
