Damnoen Saduak Floating Market (Ratchaburi) - Thailand 4K Travel Channel
The Damnoen Saduak Floating Market is Thailand's most famous floating market. It lies about 100 km southwest of Bangkok in the province Ratchaburi.
The floating market has a long history. In the past, Thailand had a poorly developed road network and so King Rama IV commissioned the 35 km long Damnoen Saduak Canal, which connects the Tha Chin River in Samut Sakhon province with the Mae Klong in the Samut Songkharm Province. The canal was completed in 1868, and the fertile soil on the banks offered the best condition for a rich harvest. They farmers sold their products directly on the canal and thus the floating market evolved over time.

Ride Along: Damnoen Saduak Floating Market | Ratchaburi Province | Thailand | We.Are.Wanderful
Ride Along: Damnoen Saduak Floating Market
Damnoen Saduak District, Ratchaburi Province | Thailand
We.Are.Wanderful
DECEMBER 27, 2017—There are at least a dozen floating markets in Thailand, including at least 2 within Bangkok, but Damnoen Saduak Floating Market in Damnoen Saduak District, Ratchaburi Province is one of the oldest and inarguably and undoubtedly the biggest and most popular of them all.
It was a rainy day all over Bangkok and surrounding provinces 2 days after Christmas in 2017. But we were all set for our Day Tour of the Floating Market in the morning, and of the historic Bridge in the River Kwai in the afternoon. We were lucky that the heavy rains had abated just as we arrived in Damnoen Saduak. It was business as usual that day in the floating market, after all.
This is a short video presentation of our visit at the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market in Ratchaburi province, Thailand. Enjoy watching.
