PORTLAND'S BEST KEPT SECRET! Crystal Springs Rhododendron Gardens.
Portland Oregon is one of the United States fastest growing cities, yet many new Oregonians, as well as many who have lived here there whole life still have no clue about this hidden gem.
Crystal Springs Rhododendron Gardens is a 10 acre garden located across the street from Reed College.
Portland's best kept secret has over 2,500 Rhododendrons, azaleas, and other plants.
The Gardens also have patches of shrubs, upland forest, marsh vegetation, and submerged logs.
Wild life, water fowl, and at least 94 species in the garden, including grebes, herons, ducks, Canada geese, wigeons, gulls, hummingbirds, and more.
The gardens are open from 6am to 10pm from April through September and from 6am through 6pm October through March.
Admission is only $5! and free Monday and Tuesdays, but I would check the website to make sure that hasn't changed.

In 1 minute we go from 1,300 feet elevation above sea level to 4000 feet. A lot of times snow events in Oregon are elevation driven. The higher you go, the more snow you get. You can see how I go from rain at the beginning to a snow and ice packed road at the end.

Crystal Springs, Portland Oregon
Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden is a magical place especially when the Rhodies are in bloom (early April through Mid May), and it's a beautiful place to observe wild life throughout the summer.
