Our visit Rio De Janeiro travel guide documentary, before the Olympics of 2016, covers some of the top attractions including a food guide (best restaurants and street food), top museums and Rio at night. We also cover off-the-beaten-path activities you won't find in a typical Rio De Janeiro tourism brochure or Rio De Janeiro, Brasil city tour.
25 Things to do in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil Travel Guide and Top Attractions Transcript:
First up, we started with the city’s most iconic sight: Christ Redeemer. We boarded the train as soon as the station opened and made our way to the top of Corcovado Mountain. Sometimes the statue can be shielded by fog, but we lucked out with beautiful blue skies and panoramic views of the city as far as the eye could see.
For a bit of colour, we headed over to the Selaron Steps, which is a tiled staircase created by Chilean artist, Jorge Selarón. Initially Selaron would scavenge construction sites looking for tiles, but in later years as his work gained notoriety, travellers began donating tiles.
Since we chose to stay in the neighbourhood of Ipanema, we ended up spending quite a bit of time at Ipanema Beach. We noticed that this beach was really popular for beach football, volleyball, and surfing. And of course, what makes this beach so iconic are its two mountains, known as Dois Irmãos. If you come here on a clear day, you can catch a killer sunset.
No visit to Rio de Janeiro would be complete without heading up Sugarloaf Mountain, so when the skies finally cleared that’s exactly what we did. We paid for our tickets and boarded the cable car for a somewhat unnerving ride up. If you’re scared of heights, this probably isn’t the attraction for you, however, if you manage to make it to the top you get some really cool panoramic views of Rio.
Copacabana Beach is the most famed beach in all of Rio de Janeiro and if you were to visit on a weekend during the summer months you’d find that the place is packed beyond belief. We happened to be here in winter so things were a lot more relaxed, but that didn’t stop visitors from braving the waters.
We did a favela tour to Babilônia and Chapéu Mangueira. On our tour we saw lots of street art, learned about life inside a favela.
And that is a wrap! We hope this video will give you guys some ideas of things to do in Rio de Janeiro on your visit, and for those travellers who have already been there, feel free to add your suggestion of cool activities and attractions in the comments below.

Hi DIY travellers!
Snoop Dogg’s Beautiful is a stunning testament to Rio de Janeiro. He featured the main highlights plus showed the side that everybody wants to see when traveling to the marvelous city. Sunny weather, gorgeous people, stunning beaches and it all finishes with a party, brazilian style.
So what are the places you see in Snoop Dogg’s video?
1. The Selaron stairs are probably the most photographed places in Rio along with the Christ. Luckily there’s plenty of room on the stairs to take a memorable picture. The Selaron stairs is the manifestation of Selaron’s love for Rio. He was from Chile but when he lived every day he would tweak the stairs and add more beautiful tiles to it creating a unique, colorful highlight right in Lapa, the place to be at night during the weekends. By day tourists sit here to take pics while at night mostly locals sit here, play music, sing and smoke…..
2. Copacabana Beach
The beach you see in Snoop Dogg’s video. I recognized it by 2 things. The apartments behind him and the famous wave pattern sidewalk. You see, in Copacabana this pattern is a wave while in Ipanema the pattern is like this
My favorite Brazilian singer Ivete Sangalo also rocked a dress with this pattern and you’ll also find it in, Lisbon! That’s because Copa has used a black and white Portuguese pavement design since its origin in the 1930s: a geometric wave.
3. Parque Lage
Snoop Dogg’s video ends with a booming brazilian Samba party at Parque Lage. Also known as the little Taj Mahal because this place was built out of love. During the week Parque Lage is a art school for young creative talents while in the weekend it becomes a great place with a magnificent view to have breakfast, brunch or lunch. And if you’re thinking of getting married abroad, know that Parque Lage is a popular place for wedding receptions. And I can totally see why
Which of the 3 places featured in Snoop Dogg’s video did you like the most? Let me know in the comments below
Thanks for watching!

Travel video about destination Brazil.
Brazil is a country of both the superlative and also amazing contrast, with dynamic metropolises, cultural centres and untouched nature. It is the largest country on the South American Continent. We begin our journey in Rio De Janeiro, the secret capital of Brazil, a veritable firework display of unashamed joie de vivre, football, samba and religion. The focal point of today’s Rio is the monumental glass cone of the Catedral Metropolitana that measures eighty metres high and looks like a Mexican pyramid. The Rua Do Ouvidor, with its elegant old buildings and splendid shops, is a reminder of the city’s historical and commercial importance. Portuguese settlers founded the city and sugar cane and gold made Rio’s colonial rulers extremely rich. In former times the coastal towns were protected by fortresses and canons. Paraty was one of those romantic locations, south of Rio on the Costa Verde, a gem dating back to Brazil’s colonial times. Around five hundred kilometres north of Rio and deep within the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais, is a most remarkable place. Ouro Preto was discovered at the end of the seventeenth century by Portuguese gold prospectors who discovered ‘black gold’ that changed colour due to its iron content. São Paulo is one of the mega cities of the twenty first century and with a population of twenty million it is the economic heart of Brazil. The railway helped to transport cotton and later coffee, and its large station, with British-designed clock tower, became an important symbol. Brazil is synonymous with sunshine, samba and exotic nature, a dream destination full of both adventure and constant fun!

Boat tours
Saveiros Tour operates a cultural boat tour around Guanabara Bay, taking in major sights including Sugar Loaf Mountain, Niterói's Contemporary Art Museum, the Rio-Niteroi bridge and Ilha Fiscal. The two-hour trip in a traditional schooner departs from the Gloria Marina daily at 0930. Tickets can be bought at the marina.
Other boat companies and ferries operate from the docks by Praca XV, offering daily trips to Niterói, Ilha Paquetá and other islands in the bay; or day cruises further afield, along the Costa Verde to Angra dos Reis, Ilha Grande and Paraty. Contact the Espaço Cultural da Marinha for details.
Helicopter tours
For a bird's eye view of Rio, Helisight operates sightseeing flights of various lengths and routes. A 15-minute flight covers the city centre, Sambódromo, Maracanã stadium, Corcovado and the statue of Christ, Pão de Açúcar and Copacabana and Ipanema beaches. Departures are from one of three helipads, located at Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon, Dona Marta Belvedere (access route to Corcovado) and Sugar Loaf, open daily from 0900 to 1800.
Even the shortest, seven minutes long helicopter rides do not come cheap but those wanting the ultimate whistle-stop tour may feel they're worth a special splurge.
Jeep tours
Several companies offer jeep tours of Rio's natural wonders. Rio by Jeep offers hiking tours of Tijuca National Park as well as adventure sports, including whitewater rafting, scuba diving, horseback riding and mountain rappeling. Jeep Tour offers tours to and around Búzios, the sunsoaked beach resort east of Rio, with stops at various sites en route. Both companies can arrange hotel pick-ups.
Walking tours
Several specialist operators offer tailored guided city walks, usually charged by the hour. Cultural Rio runs cultural sightseeing tours of Rio's historic landmarks, led by a multilingual history of art professor. The 'Downtown Rio Tour' crosses the historic centre, from Cinelândia, the arts district, to São Bento, the richest baroque church in Rio.
Rio Hiking provides English-language guided walks in Tijuca forest and up Rio's mountains. The price includes an ascent of Tijuca, Rio's highest peak, pick-up and lunch; trips are either five or eight hours, a challenging but hugely rewarding experience, providing the best views over the whole city and beyond.
Excursions from Rio de Janeiro
Buzios
Only a couple of hours drive from Rio, eastwards along the Costa do Sol, Búzios is the ideal destination for a weekend of sun, sea and shopping. Búzios sits on a rocky peninsula and offers over 17 beaches, from hidden coves to wide oceanic expanses of white sand.Once a simple fishing village, a brief visit by Brigitte Bardot in the early 1960s transformed Búzios into one of Brazil's most fashionable beach resorts. Today its pristine bays are sprinkled with boutiques, fine restaurants, trendy nightclubs and chic designer hotels; a virtual Saint Tropez of the tropics.
Niterói
This medium-sized city across the bay from Rio has two major attractions: firstly, the awesome and less commonly seen views it offers of Rio. Niterói's second most famous draw is MAC, the Museu de Arte Contemporãnea (Museum of Contemporary Art), a stunning modern building, designed by leading Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer.
The museum houses artworks by leading artists from the mid-20th century, but to many visitors the most impressive sight is the curvaceous white building itself. Suspended on a narrow column over a pond, overlooking the bay, it seems to defy gravity and conveys an uplifting sense of grace. In addition,
Niterói has a hilltop park, Parque da Cidade, which offers yet more stunning views; as well as several historic forts, and some excellent-value restaurants.
Most visitors reach Niterói by road, across the huge 13km-long (8 miles) Rio-Niterói bridge; alternatively there are ferries from Rio's quays near Praça XV de Novembro, with many daily departures.
