TOUR DETAILS:
Deserts are usually perceived as barren and uneventful places, where the passing of time is only visible through the ever-shifting dunes. This is not the case however, with the desert of Bahrain. Combining the luring temptation of the Arabian Nights with meaningful historic sites and adrenaline infused activities, Sakhir is one of the most thrilling deserts you will ever roam. To unveil all its grandeur, an expert guide will mark the route and excavate stories that will incite and amaze.
We will start at 9 am from the Bab Al Bahrain, to enjoy the architecture of the past before leaving the city all together. Next, we will head towards the A’Ali Burial Mounds to recollect memories from a time long before us and snap pictures at the oil fields, as a testimony of the Bahraini economic development.
Moving further, we will venture at the Camel Farm to admire these strivers of the desert and regain strength to continue our adventure. And since no trip in the Sakhir Desert would be complete without a visit at the Al Areen Wildlife Park, we’ll stop here to see native Bahraini species, as well as flora and fauna that originates in Africa and south Asia.
Next, it’s off to the Bahrain International Circuit, where the thrill and excitement will take over, even if you are not a motor head. With a sneak peak behind the scenes and the tires squeaking on the track, we guarantee your heart will start racing.
Once the adrenaline urge will call again, we will continue our visit with a stop at the world’s tallest indoor skydiving tunnel. Here, you’ll be able to take a leap of faith with a 12 meters free fall. No parachute attached. Life changing to say the least.
We get back to the hotel, filled with unforgettable experiences.

Tree of Life, Bahrain | Shajarat-al-Hayat
In the desert of Bahrain, where there is no surface or groundwater sources, quite inexplicably has been 400 years grows lonely acacia tree, called by locals Hadzharat Al Haya or Shajarat al-Hayah, which means tree of life. According to biblical tradition, located in Bahrain paradise gardens of Eden, so many call the tree of life tree of the Garden of Eden. Lonely Acacia has become the main attraction of Bahrain, tourists pulls feel involvement in the secret and touch the symbol of survival and triumph over circumstances.
Sharajat-al-Hayat, 'Tree of Life' (Shara al-Hayat) - 400-year-old mesquite growing in Bahrain, 2 kilometers from the hill Jabal Dakhan (Jabal ad Dukhan, 'Smoke Mountain'). Tree height of 32 feet (9.75 meters) is growing at a respectable distance from all his fellows, in the middle of the desert, on top of 25-foot (7.7 meter) of a sandy hill; this hill is located in the desert Sakhir (Sahir), 35 kilometers from the capital of Bahrain, Manama. Like all mesquite trees, Sharajat-al-Hayat pretty good feels dry conditions. Theoretically, this could be attributed to deep into the ground leaving the root system - we know that in some cases the roots went deep into the mesquite almost 50 meters. Alas, in this case the tree, located on a hill, was to grow his times longer roots, in order to reach though any groundwater. Extra long roots also do not explain why there is only one tree survived - and only on the top of a hill. For a while, there were rumors about some miraculous bacteria residing in the local sand and somehow help the Tree of mine water; however, there is no official confirmation of this theory.
Largely secret Tree survival in such unfriendly conditions and makes it so impressive tourist attraction - the Ministry of Information of Bahrain claims that admire Shara Al-Hayat arrives annually about 50 thousand people. '

Bahrain International Circuit Land Rover Experience
We decided to do the Land Rover Experience at Bahrain National Circuit as passengers. Located in the heart of the Sakhir desert, the track offered 3.5 kilometers of “varying terrains such as sand, rock, hill and water landscapes.” The track also featured 32 “natural and man-made obstacles such as slide slopes, humps, rocks, gravel roads and watercourses” (
I was somewhat terrified during the experience as the car took us up and down angles I never thought possible! We drove through water, traveled up and down stairs and more. Overall, it was much more controlled than dune bashing (obviously). For more info on fun things to do in Bahrain, go here: or here:
