Costa Rica to Nicaragua Border Crossing
We are a full service travel agency with tons of info Here it is guys, the new border crossing from Los Chiles to San Carlos- by LAND. Before, you had to take a boat. Well not anymore. We expect some things to change with this crossing since it's fairly new but this is the basics of this crossing and it is the easiest crossing in Costa Rica, especially for perpetual tourist types.

We took a day and went to the new border crossing from Costa Rica to Nicaragua. For this border crossing we went to the town of Los Chilies costarica and then to the town of San Carlos Nicaragua. We paid our exit taxes and went through immigration in both countries. Fun day of culture and food. :)

Volcano Boarding in Nicaragua
Cerro Negro is the world's most active cinder cone volcano with 23 eruptions in 160 years. We hooked up with Bigfoot Hostel in Leon for a sliding adventure that was ridiculously amazing.
Rio San Juan Travel Video
Rio San Juan Travel video - The San Juan river that flows east out of Lake Nicaragua into the Caribbean Sea. A large section of the border between Nicaragua and Costa Rica runs on the right (southern) bank of the river. It was part, with the lake, of a proposed route for a Nicaragua Canal in the 19th century. [1] The idea of the project has been revived in the last decade, including the possibility of other routes within the country.[citation needed] The Ecocanal project has obtained a Concession from the National Assembly of Nicaragua to re-open the San Juan River to commercial barge traffic.
The Cañas--Jerez Treaty states that Nicaragua owns the waters of the river and that Costa Rica can only use it for commercial navigation on certain parts of the river at Nicaraguas discretion.
Prior to the Panama Canal, the San Juan River was frequently used as a major part of the route from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean. Many people, including African slaves, were transported via this route. During the California Gold Rush as many people from all over the world traveled to California to mine for gold, tens of thousands took a steamboat that was operated by the Accessory Transit Company and was directed by Cornelius Vanderbilt.[2] The boat travelled up the San Juan River and across Lake Nicaragua; a stagecoach completed the connection to the Pacific coast.

La Fortuna Costa Rica - Arenal Volcano Travel Guide | 90+ Countries With 3 Kids
Welcome to La Fortuna, a charming little town in Costa Rica!
This cute town was founded in the 1930s and it was originally called “El Burio.” However, locals decided to change the name of the city to La Fortuna, which means “fortune” in Spanish, because of the fertility of their lands and the vast variety of tourist attractions it offers.
It is located in San Carlos Canton, nearby the Arenal Volcano, which you can clearly see from the village. Its first eruption happened in 1968 when it destroyed the small town of Tabacón and spared La Fortuna at the same time. Even though this was Costa Rica’s most active volcano during the past few decades, and one of top 10 most active volcanos in the world, since 2010, Arenal has been dormant.
The Arenal Volcano National Park is definitely worth a visit, especially if you are into bird-watching. 850 different bird species can be found here, along with coatis, deer, jaguars, various snakes and white-faced capuchin monkeys.
If you are looking for accommodation in La Fortuna, Selina is our recommendation. This place is ideal for digital nomads. It is located in the center of the town, has a fantastic co-working office, fast internet and plenty of space where you can relax, like comfy hammocks, huts around the bonfire, movie room, library, and outdoor yoga studio. They also have a pool, bar and a restaurant that serves terrific food, but also a shared kitchen where you can cook for yourself.

BYE BIG CORN
After almost 2 months on Big Corn Island, Nicaragua, I'm very sad to be leaving. I had to walk most of the way to La Costena to catch my flight, which was a nice way to take in the last of the island. From Big Corn Island, I flew to Managua, and then flew to Mexico City where I had a 9 hour layover. I then boarded my last flight to Toronto, where I finally took the bus, subway, and streetcar to my final destination in Roncesvalles, located in the west end of Toronto. Planes, trains, and automobiles ✌️
