Santa Caterina di Valfurva is a frazione of the comune of Valfurva, in the northern Italian province of Sondrio. It is home to a popular ski resort, with many FIS World Cup races taking place in the resort. Santa Caterina co-hosted with Bormio the 1985 World Ski Championships and the 2005 World Ski Championships. The highest point of the resort is on the Monte Sobretta.

    Lake Molveno is a lake in Trentino, Italy. The only settlement is Molveno, located at the north end of the basin. The lake marks the boundary between the Group of the Brenta Dolomites to the west and the Paganella - Mount Gazza to the south east). In 1952 the lake was drained to allow the construction of collectors and conduits to feed the power plant of S. Massenza. On this occasion a petrified forest submerged at the time of the lake's formation was found on the bed of the lake.     The Vittoriale degli italiani is a hillside estate in the town of Gardone Riviera overlooking the Garda lake in province of Brescia, Lombardy. It is where the Italian writer Gabriele d'Annunzio lived after his defenestration in 1922 until his death in 1938. The estate consists of the residence of d'Annunzio called the Prioria , an amphitheatre, the protected cruiser Puglia set into a hillside, a boathouse containing the MAS vessel used by D'Annunzio in 1918 and a circular mausoleum. Its grounds are now part of the Grandi Giardini Italiani. References to the Vittoriale range from a “monumental citadel” to a “fascist lunapark”, the site inevitably inheriting the controversy surrounding its creator.
