Mallorca a beautiful island that’s been tarnished with an 18s to 30s reputation but there is so much more to it. Some of the best and most popular things to do in Mallorca might involve a bit of travelling. Because we are covering Palma, Alcudia, Caves, Santa Ponsa Water Park and even trying a bit of the food.
First up though is Palma, the island’s capital and there is a lot of great things to say about it. It’s got art and architecture to rival Barcelona and cafes that give Paris a run for it’s money. That’s not even mentioning the bohemian market scene, the stunning harbour that’s dotted with restaurants specialising of course, fish.
There’s also Bellver Castle which is absolutely stunning. We realise this barely scratches the surface on Palma, but we 100% recommend it. Alcudia is a resort in the north of the island
that is equally touristy as is one for rubbing shoulders with the locals.
There is a great beach with cafes, bars and restaurants, not to mention a stunning harbour where you can get yourself a great cocktail, so I hear. On top of all of that is Alcudia old town. It’s about a bus journey or a cab ride inland and you will find winding alleyways, boutiques and cafes all inside medieval city walls, there’s even a bull ring.
Of course we can’t talk about Mallorca without
mentioning the beach. We don’t have time today to go into detail, but we do have a whole video on beaches in Mallorca, so give that a watch.
We recommend that you try some of the local
food. We managed to bag ourselves a vegetarian Mallorcan dish, it was a very welcome change. It was called tumbet, which is basically vegetables fried in oil and baked with a tomato sauce. So easy to replicate at home. Each of these different vegetables require a different cooking time. The aubergines in particular need to be cooked last because they require the highest heat with the oil in the pan and you must use olive oil and very fresh vegetables, apparently.
Western Water Park near Magaluf is about a 10 minute drive from Santa Ponsa and is kind of cool. Our fixer went on the rides with a go pro for us, because we decided not to get wet, so what a legend. But if you want to get really cool, both figuratively and literally.
You will have to go see Drach Caves, it is amazing. We highly recommend turning up early because the queue get’s huge. It’s barely 10am and already the queue is pretty big and this is a short queue. The tours go once an hour, every hour we were told it would be a little bit quieter at 10am but it’s already filling up.Our advice is to book in advance, when you do get in there you will be wandering through all these stalactites and stalagmites that are huge and mind blowing. Before being treated to a classical music concert on a subterranean lake. So, just seen the classical concert and it was amazing. The acoustics in here are phenomenal, the sound is so cool. And then the boat trip, we’re just heading to the exit now which is really sad.
For a bit more in depth information about these things then check out our video about the Drach Caves and the Western Water Park. Yep, thank-you for watching and don’t forget to subscribe, Bye-Bye, Bye.

Get your buckets and spades at the ready because we’re talking about beaches in Mallorca. First up is Alcudia. There’s an excellent mix of easy-to-access tourism and also authentic Mallorcan culture.
It’s in the north of the island. It’s one of the most popular resorts there so it can get very crowded. But the fact that it is so touristy means you’re never going to be wanting for food, facilities, showers…
Next up is Cala Millor, the largest and most popular beach on the east coast of Mallorca. It’s not all about the beach though. Restaurants and shops line the promenade and the streets surrounding it. There’s just loads to do there.
Just north of Cala Millor is our next beach, Cala Bona. The beaches here are small coves with manmade breakers. They’re mostly sandy but there are some stones here and there. This is a very busy resort, filled with all-inclusive package hotels, restaurants, bars, mini grocery stores… And things liven up even more at night time. Lots going on!
Camp de Mar has to come near the top of the list though, because of its exclusive flavour. The beach itself though is quite small, so you’ll probably be fighting for a space. And obviously the summer months can get really really busy but that’s probably true for every beach in Mallorca.
But the thing that sets Camp de Mar apart is this teeny tiny little island, just away from the beach. And you can only access it by a bridge. And this whole island is dedicated to the restaurant that sits on top of it. It’s called La Illeta. It’s really exclusive and I thought it would be quite expensive but it actually looks pretty reasonable. However, you do need to make sure you reserve a table because all of them are reserved. We managed to sneak in and get this one.
Next up, Palma. The island’s capital. I love Palma because of its context. The whole city of Palma is what’s winning here. It feels a little bit like Barcelona beach, in that it’s urban, and in fact it’s directly opposite the city centre. And then look at the view straight ahead. Palma Cathedral, what a beautiful silhouette.
Sixth is Cala d’Or, which actually means ‘the Golden Bay’. The Cala d’Or area has five small beaches and when we say small, we mean teeny tiny! It’s obviously a really beautiful beach, you can see how white and fine that sand is already. And you’ve got some bars and restaurants and shops by the look of it, right on the beach itself, so you don’t have to go anywhere. You don’t have to get dressed, you don’t have to do anything. You don’t have to put your shoes on! You can keep your bare feet. As long as you’ve got somewhere to keep your cash.
Lastly, and with good reason, is Santa Ponsa. First impressions: we’ve seen a McDonald’s, a Subway, Irish bars, Scottish bars. There’s music, people are out in quad bikes, there’s hire cars, there’s massages on the beach. It’s lively, there’s traffic everywhere, tourists everywhere. It’s crazy. However, this is the quieter scene compared to Magaluf and Palma Nova, which are its neighbours. It’s on the south west coast of the island, very 18 to 30s.
So there you have it, that’s seven beaches of Mallorca. Thanks for watching. Bye!

Visit Santa Ponsa on the Island of Mallorca, Spain
Santa Ponsa is a holiday resort built together with Magaluf popular with foreign sailors who like to visit its pure light bay. The town is famous for the landing of King James I in December 1229 before he went to Palma against the Moors. The ruler of Aragon destroyed anything that was in the least associated with Islam, James II his descendant announced the independent Majorcan kingdom of the Balearic Islands and the Mediterranean Sea trade thrived under his reign.
The Cruz ta la Conquista meaning Crucifix of Conquest indicates the place where the king landed. Today nothing else reminds of the past except the beautifully restored crucifix, instead tourists urge to enjoy the present, their precious short vacation of which every moment should be cherished. The possibilities are given, beautiful landscapes, sunshine and sea, the rest is up to us.
