German street food and beverages can be sold in the public area, in the a market or a fair. The German street food can be any food that people buy and eat outside of buildings. The street food is often eaten without any reusable-dishes, forks or spoons. Chinese chopsticks or plastic tools can be used for eating.
Street food is often unique and typical for the region where it is usually sold. Many small business owners sell German street food. Sometimes, the whole family is working in popular street food shop. The German street food is often prepared or cooked before the eyes of the buyer.
In 2007, 2.5 billion people did eat their food daily on the street. In South America, the households spend up to 30 percent of household income for buying food on the street. In Bangkok, the street food is sold by about 20000 street merchants. Street food is often cheap, but can also be very tasty. Indian street food is often more tasty, because the Indian people would never buy bad food from strangers.
The street food is often similar to fast food. The fast food can also be eaten outside of buildings. The difference is big. Fast food is often produced on an industrial scale. The traditional German street food is produced on a small scale, by a small business.
Every big city has some street food at the local market in Germany. Night markets or markets for street food are more popular in places, where the weather is hot every day. South Asia and Latin America are the best places for street food.
The sausages and meat products are among the most popular street food meals in Germany. Modern street food in Germany can be very different from the past. Today, there are many Arabic, Asian, American and German food types that can be purchased on the street in Germany. Most of the traditional German street food products are ready for rapid consumption.
Many rich families sin Germany did start their business by selling street food to the people after the war. The Germans like to try new and international food, but the traditional sausages and buns remain very popular until today. Selling the food on the street is the most popular business model in the world.
The traditional German street food is not always from Germany. Many traditional sausages were invented in Austria or Poland, but they became very German over many centuries. Ketchup, mustard and mayonnaise are the most popular parts of the German street food. Hot dogs, pizza, sausages and sandwiches are very popular and cheap in Germany.
The concerns about hygiene and freshness do often discourage people to buy street food. The lack of refrigeration is often interpreted as a lack of cleanliness and hygiene. The street food is often fresh, but the hands of the vendors are not always clean. Some Germans never eat the food from the street. There are also many food shops that sell traditional German food that can be purchased inside of a shop, but eaten outside of the building.
Street food is more popular in the summer in Germany.
