England: The Foxton Locks and the remains of the inclined plane
The Foxton Locks are ten canal locks consisting of two staircases each of five locks, located on the Leicester line of the Grand Union Canal about 5 km west of the Leicestershire town of Market Harborough and are named after the nearby village of Foxton.
Staircase locks are used where a canal needs to climb a steep hill, and consist of groups of locks which open directly into each other. Foxton Locks are the largest flight of such staircase locks on the English canal system.
Around England by Narrowboat: 900 miles in six minutes!
In 2010, I took my narrowboat around England while writing my PhD thesis. Starting and finishing in Cambridge, I travelled over 900 miles, visiting London, Oxford, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Nottingham and Leicester. This video shows the view from a webcam on the boat. One picture every 3 minutes makes one frame of video: a speed increase of 4500 times!

Trentham stretch was a far better kayak paddle. After Trentham we moved on to Stone around 10 mile paddle witch took you through open fields cows and sheep overall it took 4hours with plenty of stops. After Stone the River Trent becomes deep countryside witch we plan on carrying on in part 2 .Stone to Sandon.

Quorn & Woodhouse Station Bus & Train Spectacular 2019
The 6th Leicester Heritage Transport Trusts running day held in association with The Great Central Railway is featured in this action packed film with vintage buses and trains in operation from Quorn and Woodhouse Station.
Frequent bus trips ran around the local Charnwood area and to Loughborough Great Central Railway where there were opportunities to take a train journey back. The action begins with many of the buses including 40, 90 and 301 on Woodhouse Road on their way to the event. Some of the buses including 40 and 50 can be seen in service in the centre of Loughborough and at the Loughborough Midland Station. The action switches back to Quorn station with many buses departing and arriving back from trips. A Leyland Tiger Cub from Delaine is shown running to Barrow with a completely full load before from 12.56 onwards some of the buses are seen leaving along with some of the later trips. Look out at 13.26 for a superb 5 bus sequence involving 164, RCT3, 301 and others.
It was fantastic to see a huge variety of buses at the event which was very well attended in spite of the very cold conditions. Thankfully the heavy rain did not materialise.
I hope that I have included some of your favourites as for me hard to pick one but some of the visiting vehicles especially DSG 169 were great to have a ride on.

46100 Royal Scot Surges over Southwest Hills. Great Britain IX Days 1&2
The late failure of Black 5 44871 meant that LMS Royal Scot No. 46100 was left in sole charge of the first two legs of this annual 9 day The Railway Touring Company tour around the British Isles. Diesel assistance was provided at the rear in the form of 57316. Day 1 took the tour from London Victoria to Penzance with steam terminating at Plymouth so we decided to concentrate on the climbs of Whiteball in Somerset and Dainton in Devon and with two cameras we were able to cover bottom to top ascents each time. The diesel is clearly assisting at Whiteball but (maybe after a discussion at the waterstop?) Dainton is attacked with a “dead” diesel making the equivalent of 13 coaches on the back. At the bottom of the climb we see the new Kingskerswell by-pass, which caught a few visiting cameramen out on the day, as Royal Scot blasts under Langford Bridge with regulator wide open. The severe wind at the top of the bank can clearly be heard and most of the gallery were hanging onto their tripods for dear life as 46100 impressively slogged her way to the tunnel. Day 2 continues our climbing theme with the ascent from Bodmin Parkway up the Glynn Valley, where dark clouds are gathering and the north wind feels really cold. Again the diesel appears to be “dead weight” and 46100 makes a fine sight as she tears through the station then working her way through the trees as the track twists its way up the valley crosses Penadlake, Clinnick, Wainsford and West Largin viaducts. Rounding the edge of Dartmoor we pick up the action again between Ivybridge Station and Bittaford. Finally to Stoke Canon where, frustratingly, beautiful sunlight suddenly gave way to dark cloud just as the “Scot” charges through on her way to Bristol. Many thanks to RTC for keeping the faith with such an ambitious tour despite the many frustrations that seem to have dogged them in recent years. Two wonderful days: great performances by 46100, made new friends and didn’t get wet once!
