Day Trip to Shoaxing (Zhejiang, China)
Shoaxing is a REALLY old city, like 2,500 years old! Holy shit! It quickly became one of my favorite cities to visit since I only lived 40 minutes away by bus and 10 by high speed train. When I was broke, I took the 7A bus from Shangyu to Shoaxing at the old train station bus stop. Check this out, it only cost 5rmb (77¢) one way! However, whenever I felt like splurging like a BOSS I took the high speed train which cost 12rmb ($1.84) one way lol
On this trip, my roommate and I decided to begin our trip by exploring a common neighborhood, but little did we know that it was going to be less than common as we were able to experience the rich traditional lifestyle all around us! From old men playing cards outside their houses to dilapidated corner shops, this neighborhood was simple beautiful as it captured the true essence of China (or at least what we foreigners picture it to be). Located near China's most famous stone bridge, the 13th century Bazi Bridge, I had a great time exploring this hidden gem of a neighborhood!
After leaving this part of town, my housemate and I visited the Baozhu Bridge only to find one of the MOST BEAUTIFUL sceneries we had ever seen! First of all, we saw the unique Wu-Peng boats which can only be seen in Shoaxing. These boats are one of a kind because the boatmen use their feet to row the boat! Aside from being awestruck by these boats, we were also captivated by the beauty of the Yanyu Teahouse and the surrounding architecture! Don't miss out on visiting this bridge as it's environment serves as the perfect backdrop for a picture, that's 100% guaranteed!
As I usually recommend, explore Shaoxing's main tourists sites, but don't be afraid to just get out there and explore a random neighborhood! I assure you there will be something beautiful worthy of seeing!
Eye Exercises (Shangyu, China)
Watch me take part in the daily eye exercises that my student are obligated to do right after recess at Wenlan primary school. Interesting, right???
Heading Out To The Club (Shangyu, China)
My roommate and I head out to BMW (the only club in Shangyu, China!) for a night of drinks and dancing!
Guide To LA Chinatown - Bruce Lee Approved! (2016)
Today's video was inspired by life in China! After moving back to America, I realized that I had never actually visited LA's Chinatown. Strange right? 24 years living in Los Angeles and not once had I been to Chinatown.
Taking advantage of my trip to Chinatown to volunteer for LA Conservancy's self guided walking tour, I decided I would explore Chinatown and make a video of some of the places I visited for the first time. Literally, everything I did there was done for the first time. Except eat Chinese food - that I did PLENTY of times when living in Shangyu!
Chinatown is less than a mile span so walking is your best option when exploring the area. It's probably best if you take the gold line and get off on Chinatown station to avoid traffic and parking - remember it is adjacent to DTLA after all! Every pitstop and point of attraction is within walking distance, all you really need are some good walking shoes if you plan on covering all of Chinatown (Which I definitely recommend you do).
There is plenty of shopping and eating to do once you walk into Central Plaza - the heart of Chinatown. Things aren't as cheap as they are in China and haggling is definitely a no-no because again, we aren't in China...lol. Make sure to take at least $20 to treat yourself to something in the area such as MOCHI from Phoenix Bakery! They are SOOO good :P
Here's a list of things to do in the area, maybe you can try them out next time your Chinatown:
1. Visit the historic Cathay Bank (1966)
2. Make weird kung-fu noises with the Bruce Lee statue in Central Plaza
3. Eat at Hop Louie
4. Make a wish at Seven Star Cavern
5. Grab some Mochi at Phoenix Bakery
6. Visit the Chinatown Heritage and Cultural Center
7. Check out the art galleries at West Plaza
8. Grab a drink at Melody's Lounge
9. Listen to Chinese music from street artists
10. Pretend you are in China...oops maybe that's just me!
I hope you enjoyed my video and learned something new from it! PLEASE make sure to LIKE, COMMENT, and SUBSCRIBE to my channel. That's what your fortune cookie will say. I promise you ;)
Thank you for watching!

Prostitution in Chinese hotel: a Chinese mascarade
I am not debating prostitution here, but the huge mascarade in China. While the government talks about moral, most hotels make a large part of their income from prostitution.
The Busiest Street in Shaoxing, China
