HIDDEN SPOTS IN TAIWAN: Bopilao, Taipei Cinema Park & 228 memorial park | jiro and aina
HIDDEN SPOTS IN TAIWAN: Bopilao, Taipei Cinema Park & 228 memorial park | jiro and aina
Hi guys! Welcome again to another video on Road less travelled but for this one we'll call it hidden spots. If you are not aware, whenever we travel we like going to places that are less crowded or not so touristy spots. Some may be hidden spots to tourists but not to locals or it may be known to locals and tourists but some of you may not be aware, hence that's why we are featuring it. So that in your next travel, you may want to visit these places. Last hidden spot or road less travelled video was in Hong Kong., we'll try to feature more as we wander along the way. For this video we are going to show you some hidden spots in Taiwan.
About a year ago Taiwan opened it's gates to Filipinos. No visa for one year and I think they have extended this courtesy. Since it's our first time in Taiwan, it was inevitable to search for the hidden spots in Taiwan. Im sure there are a lot more than what we featured, but for this video let us introduce to you the hidden spots in Taiwan.
Bopilao Old Street
This is place is a beauty because of its history. Its a street full of old buildings that hold a lot of Taiwan's past, dating back to the Qing dynasty. Plus they have exhibitions of old things which is a good combo for what Bopilao represents. Don't be discouraged or turned off by old things. It's the richness of culture and history that makes this place amazing! There are not a lot of tourists when we went to Bopilao but there were a few locals. Truly a beautiful hidden spots in Taiwan!
Taipei Cinema Park
This place is a beauty because of the people. Its about cooperation and love for the arts and just preserving something of value. When a lot of people unite to create something beautiful its truly a sight to behold. It's like walking in an art museum but you're not inside a building. You're outdoors and watching the artists paint their obra right before your eyes. This hidden spots in Taiwan may not be hidden for long.. So do visit and check them out.
228 Memorial Park
It's baffling how something so beautiful now holds a dark past. As this place holds a sad memory, it also now houses a place where people can have quality time with their families, or relax. A place where you can come with your friends and do something you love. Our deepest respect goes to the history of 228 Memorial Park.
And that's all the hidden spots in Taiwan that we have for now. We want to visit again and discover more! We really had a wonderful experience in Taiwan. Everyone was friendly and the environment was safe. We hope in our next visit we can see more hidden spots in Taiwan, maybe not in Taipei. For Taiwan has so many cities that is remarkable. For now we hope you enjoy our hidden spots in Taiwan.
Have fun watching!
SEE YOU ON OUR NEXT ADVENTURE! BYE!

Part 5 in my little journey
Pingxi Old Street, Taiwan - A Simple Travel Review
A humble place with rich culture and history wrapped around it. though it was a long ride fro Taipei and the changing of trains. I have to say I was glad I was able to lay my feet on this beautiful place.
Both Pingxi (平溪) and Shifen (十分) are both towns rich in culture and history and provide a nice glimpse at Taiwan's beautiful natural scenery. Events such as the Sky Lantern Festival draw visitors year round to create a Chinese Lantern (天燈) with a wish written on it to set into the sky, all for a modest NT$100-200.
Pingxi is special for its unique architecture and design, as its market area, Pingxi Old Street (平溪老街), is built into a hill with a train track going overhead right through the middle with shops around selling local food and gifts. Visitors are able to check out shops built during the 1930s and 1940s, as well as wooden houses built during the Japanese occupation era.

Remembering last year's travel to North of Taiwan - nice and cool climate that envelope the beautiful foliages of Taipei all the way to northern coasts of Taiwan. Apart from good food and friendly locals, Taiwan is one of the cleanest places I've been to!

Trip to Taipei 台北, Taiwan | Ximending 西門町
Day 1 20/01/2016
We arrived at Taoyuan airport, 臺灣桃園國際機場, at 1:15pm, after a 5 hours flight from Singapore Changi Airport. Literally slept throughout the flight (waking up at 4a.m is no simple feat for me). Still dammn sleepy after the flight.
To make things worse, i had a sore throat the day before, and still recovering from it....
Thankfully, things took a turn for the better during the later part of the day, when we were at Ximending 西門町. As usual, we can never run away from all those funny and stupid stuff that each and everyone of us did :)

Must Try Taiwan Street Food
Taiwan is a street food paradise and in today's episode, we are gonna show some of the dishes and street food one cannot afford to miss out when visiting the country.
First on our list is the Beef Noodle Soup from Lin Dong Fang.
Next, we travelled to the main branch of Din Tai Fung to taste their world famous soup dumplings, Xiao Long Bao.
Ximending is not just known for shopping, it is also where you will find Ay Chung Rice Flour Noodles, another Taiwanese street food must try.
Another Taiwanese favorite is the Lu Rou Fan or braised pork rice. We went to Jin Feng Restaurant which is always packed during lunch time.
Taiwan is synonimous to stinky tofu and we tasted all kinds of tofu during our visit, but our favorite is the one we had in Jiufen.
Taiwan is also the birthplace of Bubble Milk Tea and there were hundreds of stores selling them all around Taiwan. Chun Shui Tang claims to have invented the very first one.
