4K合羽橋 台東区 Kappabashi Kitchen Town Tokyo JAPAN
Kappabashi-dori, 合羽橋 or Kitchen Town, is a street in Tokyo between Ueno and Asakusa which is almost entirely populated with shops supplying the restaurant trade. These shops sell everything from knives and other kitchen utensils, mass-produced crockery, restaurant furniture, ovens, and decorations, through to esoteric items such as the plastic display food found outside Japanese restaurants.
The street is also an off-beat tourist destination.
The street's name is believed to come from either the kappa (raincoats) of nearby residents which were hung out to dry on the bridge, or from a merchant named Kihachi Kappaya who funded the project to build Shinhorikawa River for water management. However, due to the homophone with the popular mythical creature, Kappa, the shops along the street have officially adopted the kappa as their mascot. Images of kappa appear frequently in the area, from merchandise to displays, even web sites about the district.

高千穂峡・宮崎県・Takachiho, Miyazaki, Kyushu JAPAN 日本
Takachiho Gorge 高千穂峡. Carved by the Gokase River, the highlight here is the 17m Minai-no-taki Waterfall from a boat is beautiful and mysterious.
While there is a hiking path along the edge, it's best viewed by renting a boat (¥2000/30 min) and going for a paddle, since the current is gentle and easy to navigate.
Takachiho Gorge was formed from lava from Mount Aso which over time eroded to create 80 to 100 m high cliffs of volcanic basalt columns. Its old mysterious abysses and water trickling from rocks are complemented by vivid greenery.
Explore Shiga With Me! 滋賀県大津市で24時間過ごしてみた!
Hey guys! Long time no see!
I recently took a trip to Shiga Prefecture to check out some of the new English-friendly programs/experiences they've developed there. It was my first time in the Shiga/Lake Biwa area, and the weather was not so great, but I thought I'd take you on my 24 hour trip with me. It's a bit of a long video so sit down and get comfy!
Otsu City is just a short way from Kyoto by train, so it's a good option for a quick getaway from the busy tourist traffic. Take a break from busy/hectic by cycling through the Japanese countryside, learning to make traditional chicken sukiyaki lunch, checking out the massive Lake Biwa, or treating yourself to some amazing teppan-yaki steak at Matsukiya.
Sharla also made it out to the area so you can check out her video here:
English Speaking Tours at Tour de Lac Biwa
