History of Sigtuna – where Sweden begins
Once upon a time … around 970 AD, King Erik the Victorious looked out at the surroundings and pointed out the location where Sigtuna town would be built – a new era in the Swedish history was about to begin. Today we can go back in time and visit medieval churches, ruins, castles and rune stones from the Viking Area.
Right from the start there were a multitude of languages, cultures and influences in Sigtuna. In the 11th century about 1000 people lived in the town. Archaeological findings show the trade of exotic goods from Byzantium, Russia, Poland and Ukraine. Everything indicates that there were many international permanent residents who contributed their knowledge, skills and contacts. Today, they are all part of the Swedish history!

혼자 스웨덴 여행 중에 마지막 여행지였던 시그투나.
이곳은 우연히 여행책에서, 구글맵에서 사진만 보고 끌려
무작정 숙소를 예약해 찾아간 소도시였어요.
한적하고 관광객 거의 없는 여행지를 좋아하다보니
기억에 남는 소도시인데 살고 싶은 여유로운 소도시였어요.
따사로운 햇살과 새 소리만 가득했던 마을. 예쁘고 한적한 곳.
우연히 만난, 서로의 취미를 함께 하는 멋진 한국인 부부와
사랑스러운 숙소까지 기억에 남는 곳.
내가 딱 꿈꾸던 어느 낯선 동네, 북유럽 스웨덴 소도시.
