Buffalo's Architectural Treasures
Buffalo's Architectural Treasures explores the city The New York Times has called a textbook for a course in modern American buildings and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution a vast outdoor museum. Hosted by Tim Tielman, Executive Director of the Campaign for Greater Buffalo History, Architecture and Culture, the video documents Buffalo's history as the quintessential 19th century boomtown. This frenzy of economic activity produced great wealth and a subsequent will to greatness in its leading citizens that brought the best and brightest talents of the Gilded Age to Buffalo. In the course of this ten-minute tour, you'll visit the tree-filled parks and mansion-lined parkways designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, as well as the masterworks left in Buffalo by such legendary architects as Frank Lloyd Wright, Louis Sullivan, H.H. In this episode I take you on a tour of the Hermanus wine route on the R320 to the top three wineries, Sumaridge, Atraxia and Creation Wines. The Hermanus wine route is located 90 minutes south of Cape Town right before Hermanus town.
Our first stop is the family owned Sumaridge Wine Estate. Their mountain vineyards offer a variety of different wines. From the common varieties like Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Rose to a blend of wines like Epotome and Maritimos. The estate offers tasting and dinning from 12pm to 3pm.
Next we visit Ataraxia for a tasting in their cool wine lounge. They built their wine lounge to look like a chapel. We tried Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir and a delicious red blend that they are known for called Serenity.
Our last stop on the Hermanus wine route is Creation Wines, which has been awarded the clinque award which means they have the best food and wine pairing in South Africa. We tried some gazpacho, oysters and some more delicious bites.
Creation Wines creates a wide range of wines such as Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Pinot Noir and Syrah. They gave us a special tour of the cellar and let me try an aging Syrah my favorite.
The Hermans wine route features a total of 15 vineyards each with premium quality wines. This is a must visit if you are heading down to Hermanus from Cape Town.

Cape Town to the Garden Route - Exploring the Overberg
Episode 31: The N2 freeway that runs from Cape Town towards the Garden Route must be one of the most frequently traveled tourist routes in South Africa. While the freeway may be the quickest way to get from one destination to the other, Bevan and I are not well-known to choose speed over scenery! We decided to take things a little slower and turn our drive out of Cape Town into a coastal meander along the R43.
