Moorabbin to Parkes 'The Dish' - Longreach EP04
Day 1 of my pilot vlogs flying from Melbourne to Longreach and back. Today I flew from Moorabbin Airport to Parkes and stopped to see 'The Dish'.
I'll be flying from Melbourne to Longreach in a Cirrus SR20 under the Instrument and Visual flight rules. Stopping at regional airports along the way, hopefully meeting some interesting people and fellow aviators, and sharing the whole trip with you here on YouTube.
The CSIRO radio telescope observatory in Parkes is a fantastic place to visit and learn about how Australia was pivotal in helping with the Apollo 11 moon landing in 1969. I chat to one of the Observation Scientists from CSIRO about that historic day in this vlog.

VERY IMPORTANT: I am a private pilot and am NOT qualified to give flying instruction. This video, like all videos on this channel, has been significantly edited from the original source footage and is provided for entertainment purposes only. Many radio calls and procedures have been omitted. If you have any questions about anything you see or hear, please speak to a Certified Flying Instructor first.
Filmed on a Canon EOSM6, various GoPros, and sometimes my iPhone. Audio usually from Epidemic Sound.
It scared my nuts off!
Captured the best quote to sum up current events on a flight landing at Alice Springs in the Australian Outback. The plane dipped and a little boy behind us defied his parents by repeating It scared my nuts off! This video was shot by Larry Richardson RichardsonArtPhotographyStore.com
Victoria's Beautiful Western District
The Western District in Victoria is looking great after plenty of rain with lovely green paddocks contrasting against yellow canola crops. As we approached Melbourne the cloud cover began to break up and the view from the heads to the city was fantastic. The video concludes with us arriving back at home base, Tyabb (YTYA), on the Mornington Peninsula.
Foxbat Australia welcomes Ido Segev to the team
Peter Harlow Introduces Ido Segev to his team at Foxbat Australia.
Ido has an amazing aviation background taking him onto the world stage of Aerobatic Radio Control model aircraft. It was natural that he went on to become one of Australia's first fully qualified Drone pilots. He is an accomplished GA pilot covering charter flying and taking people aloft to enjoy aerobatics. He is a qualified flying instructor and has totally mastered the range of flying the Foxbat The Vixxen and now the Kelpie from Foxbat Australia. Current goals include endorsements for formation flying and low flying. In the last 12 months he has been involved in flying adventures taking him from Melbourne up to the Kimberley and more recently to the Cape York and Torres Straights. He is also great fun to talk to and I am sure will be a great asset to both existing Foxbat pilots nd the rapidly growing list of new pilots discovering this well proven range of products. Mike Rudd
SHOWCASE_v2_23Jun.mp4
Aircraft Showcase Days will be held on the first and third Saturday of every month with the aim of providing visitors with a personal, interactive and in-depth experience with two or three of the Museum's aircraft. Visitors will witness the aircraft being towed from the hangar and watch the pre-flight inspection, servicing and refuelling as it takes place in front of them. The pilot will strap in and start the engine and then the flight will take place. The flying display will vary from a simple handling display to aerobatics or formation flying. The aircraft will land and taxi back to the visitors where they will have the chance to have a chat with the pilot, take photographs, and inspect the cockpit and engine. Audio-visual presentations both in the cinema and the Display Hangar will enhance the stories of veterans who will be invited to share with our visitors their wartime experiences. At the conclusion of the flying activity, the Engineering Hangar will be open to all visitors. We have rarely allowed access to the workshop areas, but now visitors will be able to take a closer look at the most diverse range of aviation engineering activities anywhere in the world. Our Engineering Team will demonstrate the projects they are working on and the unique processes, materials and techniques required to keep this fleet of vintage aircraft flying.

Texan Landing at Khancoban
Khancoban, NSW is a picturesque small town on the Western slopes of the Snowy Mountains near the Victoria/NSW border and Corryong. The airstrip is a 1500m grass/sealed strip which lies below the Khancoban Pondage spillway wall. Permission is required to use the strip. The township is only a short 10 minute walk from the strip where there is accommodation and places to eat if planning a visit.
1802 WRLeeds
The first Foxbat formation flyout of 2018. A strong easterly wind made it rather turbulent and as we got closer to Leeds East Airport, formerly RAF Church Fenton, the visibility deteriorated, but we managed to get through ok. We arrived quite late in the day and missed lunch but the chaps in the tower asked the café to stay open for us. Great place to visit, friendly people and superb runways.
