Tulips growth and Dutch prosperity - The Netherlands from above
What opportunities does our prosperity offer? The Netherlands know the highest density of holiday parks in the world. It is a portrayal of our prosperity and endless redevelopment resulting in leisure. But can we also achieve growth by thinking beyond the products? This seems to work out in waste management. Waste streams and even our faeces is converted into energy. In fact, we are going back to an old phenomenon: for example, the annual stretcher race from Workum to the Bulbs region relieves the former ship transport from manure from Friesland, which has been used for centuries to grow bulbs on the poor soil in the Bollen Region. In order to bring the bulbs in perfect condition, they need this manure, but also the correct groundwater level is also important. One man, the crane man, is busy on a daily basis, making sure to maintain a perfect balance.
The Netherlands from above shows us a country from a spectacular perspective. From the sky it is possible to see how the Netherlands changes through the seasons, and how in parallel they form the determining moments of our own life cycle. Through data visuals, impressive aerial images and portraits of people on the ground, the second series of the Netherlands from above outlines an image of how time has changed our country and how we move in it. The way we live from day to day, and from generation to generation in this country reflects our resilient mentality. The Netherlands from above season 2 tells us the story of seeing and taking opportunities, falling and rising up again, reinventing the wheel again and again. Where the first series was an ode to the makeable Netherlands, this second series is an ode to our resilience.

Belarus: Inside Europe´s last dictatorship
Belarus lies between Europe and Russia and is a dictatorship. How is it to live in Belarus, Europe´s last dictatorship? Belarus is located on the main route between Russia and Europe. The focus has always been on Russia, but that seems to be changing. And: more than the half of Belarus was radioactively contaminated by the Chernobyl disaster. How does Belarus and the people living inside a dictatorship deal with this?
In this eight-part travel series the Dutch journalist and author Jelle Brandt Corstius travels through Russia and visits the neighbor countries Latvia, Moldova, Ukraine, Belarus and Kazakhstan. What image do the Russians have of their neighbors and vice versa? What are the relations between the powerful Russia and the other former Soviet republics? And how do the countries around Russia treat their Russian inhabitants? A series about propaganda and identity.
Dutch Journalist used to live close to the Belarusian embassy in Moscow. Inside the embassy they used to have small shoe shops. Shoes from Belarus are incredibly popular in Russia. In the Soviet era but still today, they are produced in Belarus. Dutch Journalist Corstius takes a look at the shoe factory and talks to the employees about their country. They are all very positive about their homeland. It is a stable country as they say. That may be true, but it goes hand in hand with a dictatorship, whose beating heart is President Lukashenko´s palace.
After a bomb detonated in the metro in Minsk in 2011, 15 people died. Two people were taken as prisoners and executed two days later. Death penalty still exists in Belarus. A mother of the executed tells us her story and what kind of person her son was, that was made responsible for the attack. Belarus looks like a clean country. This appearance is kept up the hard way. The population has no priority in a regime, where the president is busy with building a new nuclear plant.

Hindustani in The Netherlands - Anthropology of the Dutch
Varisha Pancham (25) is account manager and was also a DJ in the now closed radio station I am Desi, a radio for Hindustani youngsters. In this Anthropology of the Dutch episode she is interviewed together with her radio colleagues.
De Hokjesman about this episode:
The Hindustani are both Hindus and Muslims who once came to Suriname from India. And then again to the Netherlands. We try to make it more difficult for ourselves as program makers, and it is typical for the Hindustani that they do not want to come to the forefront. They are virtually invisible; little interest has been made about the Hindustani community in the Netherlands. We have tried that now. The result is scenes that are sometimes on the edge of neo-colonial and paternalistic ... But I can do it, I hope.

Mentally ill in The Netherlands - Anthropology of the Dutch
Sharon Meijer (28) has paranoid schizophrenia, but you usually do not notice anything about her. She works in the bakery at Dijk en Duin, a psychiatric institution in Castricum that is portrayed in this episode of Anthropology of the Dutch. Sharon is one of the main characters in this episode about mental illness in The Netherlands. How do the Dutch deal with mental sickness? Are there intitutions for the mentally ill? How do they live?
Original title: De Geesteszieken
From the pigeonhole man about this episode:
'We wanted a community that was involuntarily composed, and that's how we ended up at the psychiatric institution Dijk en Duin in Castricum. Such settings are increasingly being closed. I hope those fools in The Hague when they see this think: maybe isn't it such a smart idea that everyone lives independently on a flat. Because these patients also have something together, and that peaceful environment in nature is certainly good for people. I have often thought while shooting this episode, as I was once again on the edge of overstrain: just let me stay there for a week.'

Drenthe's inferiority complex - Anthropology of the Dutch
The pigeonhole man opens this new season of Anthropology of the Dutch with a visit to Drenthe. One of the Drents he visited was Barry Gepken, age 42, from Erica, who, with his Mammoth Foundation, revives all kinds of old Drenthe celebrations.
From the pigeonhole man:
We were looking for the community with the lowest self-image, and those are the Drents. This is evident from historical sources, but also from every conversation with every Drent. If you say to a Drent: what do you have a nice sweater, he says: well, it was from the Zeeman, 1 euro 50. The broadcast focuses on that inferiority complex, combined with the rather shocking discovery that Drenthe is the largest province from the Netherlands. I suspect that the average Drent can not appreciate this broadcast; the average Drent finds everything stupid. And yet I think you as a viewer of this episode will love the people from Drenthe.

Anthropology of the Dutch: The people from Ameland
In this first episode of the Anthropology of the Dutch, the pigeonhole man leaves the shore and makes the crossing towards the mysterious island called Ameland.
Looking for the true character of the inhabitants of Ameland and the so-called isolation they seem to cherish so much. How much do they enjoy seeing the tourists come... and go? What do the proud islanders talk about when they are amongst themselves? Anf what about their pagan ritual in winter? And why should the outsiders stay away from Ameland on December 5?
The myth of their historical independence is widely cherished all over the Wadden. All the islands have that in common, even Texel. Each island claims to be unique, and they actually look very much like each other. Ameland is different because it was the only one of all islands to maintain its independence the longest - and this story is proudly cherished.
Original title: De Hokjesman - De Amelanders
Fascinated by the prevailing pigeonhole spirit, the pigeonhole man goes on field research into the world of appealing Dutch subcultures. With a wink to the classical ethnologist, dressed in a three-piece suit with a bow tie, he analyzes the man as one of the animal groups.

Glacier National Park Montana Going To The Sun Road
Hey you guys! Thanks for joining me on another adventure. We are Glacier National Park in Montana this week, exploring the Going To The Sun Road. It is the first time in the park for each of us, and we are gob-smacked with the grandeur and beauty! The first part of the day started off cloudy, but it only enhanced some of the park's scenery. It felt like we were way high in the heavens with the jutting peaks and crawling clouds. When we stopped at the tunnel, April spoke with a young couple about what the must-do hike is, and they both said Avalanche Lake at the same time. Shortly before we got near the trail-head, we met painters Karen Robinson and her husband. They were setting up their canvases, so we told them we would stop back by after our hike to see how their paintings were coming along. (One tip I didn't include on film is to arrive at the trail-heads early, as parking is limited and fills up fast.) We started off on the Trail Of The Cedars, which is handicapped accessible. [This is what the website says about obtaining a disabled pass: A free, lifetime pass - available to U.S. citizens or permanent residents of the United States that have been medically determined to have a permanent disability (does not have to be a 100% disability) - that provides admittance to more than 2,000 recreation sites managed by five Federal agencies.] The Avalanche Lake hike was mostly right along Avalanche Falls, whose water color was a light glacier blue--it was amazing! Upon arriving at the lake, we were astounded at the surroundings. It was surreal. We decided to walk along the lake's edge to take it all in some more. You must get out there and see it for yourself; it is incredible!! After our hike, we stopped back by to see the painters. What talent they have! And Karen even had to make the best of an accidental mistake she made...that's the way to approach life. We ended up at Apgar at the edge of Lake McDonald for a picnic dinner of grilled hamburgers. That's where April spotted the horse in the water. We'd never seen such a thing in person before! It was so magical to watch. Finally, we arrived at the Brownies Hostel in East Glacier. The things we liked most about our time there was watching the sun set on their balcony and waking up to the smell (and April had a taste, of course) of the bakery downstairs making cinnamon rolls. This was definitely one of the best journeys we'd ever been on!
