Slow down, relax, and be adaptable
You are moving to Mexico. Whether that is to a town with a lot of Expats like Vallarta, San Miguell, or Ajijic or a small Pueblo with zero Americans- it’s still Mexico- not the US. Don’t expect to just move to Mexico and bring your US life with you. That is asking for headaches.

There is shortcut to understanding Mexico and life in Mexico-
You have to come to Mexico, travel mexico, experience Mexico yourself. There is only so much information and knowledge that you can gain from watching Youtube videos. You have to accidentatly eat a ton of habanero salsa, forget change for the bathroom, miss your bus, have an apartment fire, etc. YOURSELF to begin to understand this amazingly beautiful, complex country that is Mexico.

Mazatlán seems to be on many people's radar in terms of a vacation destination and as a place to retire- we hope this video, and the videos to come, will give you an insight into what this beautiful coastal, colonial city is like.

Where did we stay? We suggest staying in the Centro Historico part of Mazatán. In our next Mazatlán video we explore the Golden Zone (Zona Dorada), which is another area with plenty of hotels, but I believe you'll have a better time in Mazatlán if you stay in the downtown area near Playa Olas Altas.

ABANDONED BEACH MANSION | Exploring El Partenon de NEGRO DURAZO Mexico 2018
This is the top spot for urban exploration in Mexico. El partenón de Negro Durazo is an abandoned mansion on the coast of Zihuatanejo, Guerrero, Mexico. This building was the party home of the corrupt police chief, Arturo Durazo Moreno. Nicknamed The Black Durazo, he stole millions of taxpayer money to build extravagant homes all over the country. Exploring this abandoned millionaires mansion has been on my to-do list for years. I teamed up with my travel vlogger bro Exploring with Cody, and Actress Mariannela Cataño to make this happen. This is one of Mexico's most famous abandoned places!
Negro Durazo was Mexico City's Chief of Police from 1976 to 1982. The beach mansion was constructed in 1979, and abandoned only a few years later. The Partenon was constructed to look similar to the actual Parthenon inside the greek Acropolis in Athens. Negro Durazo only had a couple years of partying before being caught and locked up. He spent 10 years in jail, and then died in the year 2000. The abandoned home has been shut down since 1985. That's 32 years ago. I was it had everything still inside!

Holidays: The rich culture of Mexico embraces holidays and festivals as often as possible! Despite the name, Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is actually a day of celebration in Mexico. From October 31 to November 2, Mexicans believe the souls of their loved ones visit them. The celebration includes decorating gravestones, feasting with friends and family, dancing and music, and decorations of paper mache skeletons. Semana Santa is another major holiday in Mexican culture. The holiday is similar to Easter in the US, but instead of one day of celebration, Mexicans celebrate for an entire week. Festivities include parades, processions, song and dance performances in the streets and plazas, and of course delicious food and drinks!
Geography: Mexico is located directly south of the US and is the fourteenth largest country in the world. The southern borders of the country are shared with Belize, Guatemala, and the Caribbean Sea. Large mountain ranges, tropical beaches, and dry deserts make up most of Mexico's terrain. Generally, the climate in Mexico is warm and dry, although most of the country does see a rainy season from June to October. While in Cuernavaca, you are guaranteed a warm and sunny atmosphere!
