TOP 6 THINGS TO DO IN PAI, THAILAND!
A once sleepy country town nestled in the hills and rice fields of Northern Thailand, Pai is now well and truly on the tourist trail. But fear not, Pai retains its sleepy charm and oozes chill, making it an ultimate destination for easy paced, self-guided exploring. Do as much or as little as you want in Pai, let's go!
Scooter venture through the Pai countryside - The epitome of South East Asian easy paced, self-guided travel vehicles; jump on a scooter and soak up all of the two-wheeled freedom your heart desires. Most of Pai's attractions are within a 10km radius of the town centre, lending itself nicely to slow exploration if that's what you're in to.
Pai Canyon - Narrow dusty trails run zig-zag through the elevated landscape and give you a feeling of endless hidden nooks and crannies that are waiting to be discovered. Once you walk the 5 minutes to the top of the canyon, it's really up to you how much further you venture and how many more viewpoints you want to sight. Bar the small restaurant/juice shack at the entrance, the canyon isn't commercialised, meaning it's adventure at your own limits and risks. Furthermore, it means it's FREE!
Pai's Waterfalls - Everyone loves a waterfall right? Well, you're spoilt for choice in Pai. Mor Paeng and Pambok are two of the more popular falls and deliver just what the doctor ordered when you're on the hunt for a little spot to cool down on a hot day.
The Land Split - Although the name sums up most of what there is to see here, the family that owns the land, enthusiastically beckon you to fill your belly with locally grown peanuts, home-made juice and other tasty treats. Its quaint rural setting makes for an ideal spot to take a short stroll or just plop under a tree and munch away on snacks. To top it off, it's left to you to decide what the experience has been worth and there's a small donation box for you to deposit your Baht. Support local!
Night Markets - Pai's walking street is lined with an abundance of hip cafes, restaurants and all sorts of boutiques. At night, these really come to life, as the road is lined with classic Thai food and trinket stalls. Atmosphere, variety (until you meet the neighbouring stall) and cheap shopping abound - what more could you want from a night market!
White Buddha (Chedi Phra That Mae Yen) - Sitting atop several hundred stairs, most of Pai can be viewed from the White Buddha, and conversely, the buddha can be seen from most of Pai. This makes it the perfect spot to take in the last rays for the day, as you join the Buddha in guiding the sun behind the hills. If you haven't spent enough energy during your day, it's a walkable location from town, otherwise it's a short drive up the road.
Get out there and enjoy Pai!

Wat Thep Phithak Punnaram, Big Buddha Pak Chong Thailand
Big White Buddha statue at Wat Thep Phithak Punnaram temple in Pak Chong Thailand. The statue can be seen from the main road between Bangkok and Nakhon Ratchasima (Korat). Also written as
Wat Theppitak Punaram. The new motorway now also passes very close to the temple and statue in the Klangdong area at Pak Chong near Mauklek. Lid up by white lights in the evening, a beautiful sight and recommended attraction to visit on your travel in Thailand. You can walk the 650 stairs to reach the statue on the top and to enjoy the great view from there. Located near Khao Yai and many other attractions nearby.
