Woorim is the location of the Bribie Island Research Centre, an aquaculture research facility. Erosion of the beach at Woorim is an ongoing issue with long term recession trends of the shoreline observed. In September 2007 Caboolture Shire Council published a Shoreline Erosion Management Plan in response.

2. Bribie Island Golf Club Woorim
Bribie Island is the smallest and most northerly of three major sand islands forming the coastline sheltering the northern part of Moreton Bay, Queensland, Australia. The others are Moreton Island and North Stradbroke Island. Bribie Island is 34 kilometres long, and 8 kilometres at its widest. Archibald Meston believed that the name of the island came from a corruption of a mainland word for it, Boorabee. meaning 'koala bear'. Bribie Island hugs the coastline and tapers to a long spit at its most northern point near Caloundra, and is separated from the mainland by Pumicestone Passage. The ocean side of the island is somewhat sheltered from prevailing winds by Moreton Island and associated sand banks and has only a small surf break. VLOG Road Trip Australia, Day 16 Bribie Island !

Jour 16 - Alors que le nord du Queensland est touché par le cyclone Debbie pour nous c'est soleil et 30 degrés au programme alors un seul objectif aller se baigner. Au nord de Brisbane depuis Noosa nous n'avons pas trouvé de plage et de coin super où profiter et on a vu sur la carte la grande île de Bribie Island, peu promue, mais on s'est tout de même lancé. Elle est accessible par un pont au pire on fera demi tour!
Sur la route on a fait une petite halte pour aller se balader au lookout de la wild horse Mountain. Petite montée qui amène à un point de vue à 360 degrés bien sympa!
Arrivé à Bribie Island nous n'avons pas été déçu et pour dire nous y avons même passé toute la journée. La vue depuis l'île est magnifique, il y a un côté calme dans la baie où nous avons fait une visite en kayak et si vous êtes chanceux c'est un sanctuaire apprécié des dauphins, tortues et des dugongs; et un côté océan dans lequel nous avons profité de notre dernière baignade dans la mer de corail (triiiiste!)

Bribie Island National Park.

Bribie Island is 34km long and 8km wide, The island is host to numerous lagoons, 55.8km2 national park, various camping areas & a lot of native wildlife, Eagles, Kangaroos, Wallabies, Lace monitors & much much more.

Bribie Island also has a rich history, its original name being Yarun, meaning hunting ground in the native Djindubari language. Bribie island was later named, Bribe, after a convict and the first European to live on Bribie island.

The WWII Forts of Fort Bribie are a must-see, these Forts were built in the early 1940s as part of the Brisbane line to help defend Brisbane against possible Japanese invasion.

Bribie Island is a great place for families to come and relax for the day or even spend a weekend with lots of beaches to go for a swim and parks to relax in. we also have many different tourist activities to do while on the island, 4WD tours, Sunset Gondola cruises, BBQ & fishing boat hire, Kayak & SUP hire, Ferryman cruises & much much more
