They are in name of some good men in history. To know the reason why boat ritual, we have to trace back to ancient time. It is due to ignorance toward disease , people believe that plague is punishment from the gods. To avoid the punishment, in a period of time, people invited the plague gods to visit their village, treat the gods with sacrifices, and then send them away by boats. At the beginning, the boats were expelled by floating in rivers, but now the boats are burned. Although the terrible plague gods are now replaced by Royal Lords who protect villages by expelling plagues, and other bad things, the ritual of boat burning is retained.
