Yatiyantota' electoral district was an electoral district of Sri Lanka between March 1960 and February 1989. The district was named after the town of Yatiyantota in Kegalle District, Sabaragamuwa Province. The 1978 Constitution of Sri Lanka introduced the proportional representation electoral system for electing members of Parliament. The existing 160 mainly single-member electoral districts were replaced with 22 multi-member electoral districts. Yatiyantota electoral district was replaced by the Kegalle multi-member electoral district at the 1989 general elections.

1. Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage Pinnawala
Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage is an orphanage, nursery and captive breeding ground for wild Asian elephants located at Pinnawala village, 13 km northeast of Kegalle town in Sabaragamuwa Province of Sri Lanka. Pinnawala has the largest herd of captive elephants in the world. In 2011, there were 96 elephants, including 43 males and 68 females from 3 generations, living in Pinnawala.The orphanage was founded to care and protect the many orphaned unweaned wild elephants found wandering in and near the forests of Sri Lanka. It was established in 1975 by the Sri Lanka Department of Wildlife Conservation .

Millennium Elephant Foundation is an organization and charity set up to rescue and care for captive Asian elephants in Sri Lanka. The foundation is situated on a 15 acre estate by the name of Samaragiri, which is located 10 km northwest of Kegalle, within the Sabaragamuwa Province of Sri Lanka. As of 2014 there are 9 elephants that either permanently or temporarily reside at the sanctuary. These elephants are taken care of by 13 local mahouts and a number of foreign volunteers.The foundation is funded predominantly by tourists and volunteer fees. This money is used to develop and improve conditions for the elephants at MEF, as well as run an education program for farmers and their families in Habarana.

Hiking Mysterious Yakdessagala, Gonagama, Kurunegala (2018) - 10 of 11

Yakdessagala is a rock located about 16km from Kurunegala on Gonagama Road. The folklore around Kuveni is vast and is related to Yakdessagala. She was bitter about the way Vijaya treated her and started cursing him after she was thrown out with their two children. Many are the tales about the route she had taken in Hath Korale.

Thonigala aka Lathonigala off Anamaduwa has been identified as the spot where she started lamenting. From there she proceeded to an area, which came to be known as Yakdessagala. This is also believed to be the first-ever recorded curse in Sri Lankan history.

This peak is a part of the range which connects with Athugala (ඇතුගල) and Andagala (ඇඳගල / ආඳාගල). It is also said Kuweni (කුවේණි) cursed king Wijaya (විජය) from Yakdessagala and leaped from here. As Kuweni belonged to Yaksha (යක්ෂ), this peak is called Yakdessagala.

* Don’t litter and even if it’ bio-degradable, please bring it back and dispose of the garbage properly and responsibly. Because no matter what it is, it will still be alien to that environment.

* Use reusable water bottles so that you don’t have to keep buying plastic ones. It’ll not only save you money but will help save nature massively.

* Remain quiet and vigilant. Don’t disturb the tranquility of the nature. Instead savor it.

* Try and bring if you spot any litter/garbage left behind by other careless travellers.

* Don’t light fires unnecessarily and do try to use portable cookers instead of using firewood when camping. The increase usage of firewood leads to more deforestation even at a smaller scale.

* Don’t bring any plants back with you or break any plants/branches unnecessarily.

* Don’t walk off the designated footpath.

* Don’t use soap/detergent/shampoo when bathing in natural streams as they’d only lead to the contamination of those pure water sources and elimination of wildlife species.

* Don’t do anything that harms the Mother Nature.

The Ella Uda Ella Falls is located in the Colombo District, Avissawella Electorate at Hanwella. To reach it, take the Hanwella road and turn off near the Thummodara Old Bridge, then continue for a further 10km to the Illuovita area. It's near to Awissawella Botnical Garden (Seethawaka Garden).
