Johan Creten, 8 GODS, 2017
October, 19 - 22
Le Petit Palais, FIAC On Site !
Paris
Le Petit Palais
Avenue Winston Churchill,
75008 Paris
Creten’s work speaks to the storm within us all, as individuals and as a society, and deals with his usual themes: nature, the female form, power, politics and spirituality. Gay Gassmann, T Magazine - New York Times.
Johan Creten is a Belgian sculptor based in Paris. Though trained as a painter, he soon turned to ceramic and bronze as his primary mediums. Affectionately known as The Clay Gipsy, and working wherever he has the opportunity, from Miami to Mexico, Den Haag to New York, Creten is considered a frontrunner in the revival of ceramics, alongside Lucio Fontana and Thomas Schütte.
Digitalization in art - Harald Schütz
This series of interviews explores the impact of digitalization on our society and art. In the interview with Harald Schütz, representative of Geuer & Geuer Art, we discuss his career switch from telecom to art and the impact of entrepreneurship on society.
It was filmed at the opening of the exhibition 'Dialogue of generations: Armin Müller-Stahl — Leon Löwentraut' in Saint Petersburg, which was sponsored by andagon.

David Teniers the Younger and his paintings
David Teniers the Younger was a Flemish artist born in Antwerp, the son of David Teniers the Elder. His son David Teniers III and his grandson David Teniers IV were also painters. His wife Anna, née Anna Breughel, was the daughter of Jan Brueghel the Elder and the granddaughter of Pieter Bruegel the Elder.
Through his father, he was indirectly influenced by Elsheimer and by Rubens. The influence of Adriaen Brouwer can be traced to the outset of his career. There is no evidence, however, that either Rubens or Brouwer interfered in any way with Teniers's education, and Smith (Catalogue Raisonné) may be correct in supposing that the admiration which Brouwer's pictures at one time excited alone suggested to the younger artist his imitation of them. The only trace of personal relations having existed between Teniers and Rubens is the fact that the ward of the latter, Anne Breughel, the daughter of Jan (Velvet) Breughel, married Teniers in 1637.
Admitted as a master in the Guild of St Luke in 1632, Teniers had even before this made the public acquainted with his works. The Berlin Museum possesses a group of ladies and gentlemen dated 1630. No special signature positively distinguishes these first productions from those of his father, and we do not think it correct to admit with some writers that he first painted religious subjects. Dr. Bode, in a study of Brouwer and his works, expresses the opinion that Teniers's earliest pictures are those found under the signature Tenier. Tenier is a Flemish version of a thoroughly Walloon name, Taisnier which the painter's grandfather, a mercer, brought with him when he came from Ath in 1558; and Dr. Bode's supposition is greatly strengthened by the circumstance that not only David the elder but his brother Abraham and his four sons were all inscribed as Tenier in the ledgers of the Antwerp guild of St Luke.

Rubens and his legacy Video Tour
Rubens was the Quentin Tarantino of his day, making Flanders one of the world’s foremost regions for painting. The Flemish master-painter developed his own personal style, crafting scenes that exuded lust and were marked by violence, as well as compassion and elegance. These themes inspired artists all over the world for many centuries to come. In this unique exhibition by BOZAR, in collaboration with the Royal Museum of Fine Arts Antwerp and the Royal Academy of Arts in London you can rediscover the work of this indomitable genius that has withstood the test of time as well as that of his heirs. You can also see canvases by Van Dyck, Watteau, Delacroix, Manet and Kokoschka as well as engravings by Rembrandt and Picasso.
BOOKSTORES: How to Read More Books in the Golden Age of Content
Bookstores have always driven me crazy. So much to read and so little time! And now with our lives chock full of CONTENT--Netlflix, podcasts, social media, YouTube, and the 24 hour news cycle--when the hell are we supposed to find the time to get through a book? This has haunted me for awhile now. So I decided to make a film about it, hoping to find a way through my bookstore anxiety--a way to re-balance my content diet in order to read more books.
This was originally released in chapters on Vero and you can find additional content and other goodies there:

In 1850, the Lorraine Museum opened its first gallery to the public. Since then the Museum has grown significantly, offering an exhibition area of 4,500m2 today spread over several outstanding buildings in the heart of the Old City; the Dukes’ Palace, built by the Dukes of Lorraine, a fine example of early Renaissance architecture in eastern France, the 16th Century Franciscan Convent and Church with tombs of the Lorraine family in its crypt...
To enhance its superb buildings and collections, the Museum is currently benefitting from to a series of renovations to be carried out by Nancy City Council and the Museum itself with support from the French Government, Lorraine Regional Council, and the History of Lorraine Society. These renovations will not impact on the tourist experience.
Collections
The Museum has works representative of the artistic and cultural life of the region. Objects from daily life, weapons from different civilisations: prehistoric, Gallo-Roman, and Merovingian are some of the fascinating examples of this life, as are items from the Middle Ages and a number of beautiful religious and funerary sculptures. Highlights of Renaissance art include works by Ligier Richier (in the Franciscan Church), and an important collection of stained glass windows and sculptures, such as Christ in the Garden of Olives. Georges de La Tour’s paintings and Jacques Callot’s prints are set off by other magnificent works produced during the reign of Stanislas. The Museum’s exhibition of regional 18th and 19th century faïence (Fine tin-glazed earthenware) is a collection by which others should be judged. Other special collections on show in the museum include a gallery of miniatures and two galleries devoted to Jewish religious objects. Daily life in Lorraine, from the end of the 18th century to the beginning of the 20th century, is depicted in arts and crafts and in the ethnographic collection in the Franciscan Convent: regional furniture, popular faïence and household items shown in highly evocative, traditional Lorraine interiors.
The Lorraine Museum has begun a major programme to extend and reorganise its collections, which is due for completion in 2020. Some parts of the museum may be closed due to this work. Ask at the Tourist Office or the Lorraine Museum.

Het thema is 'A Taste of Bangladesh'. Wilt u 'A Taste of Bangladesh' ook in uw winkelcentrum? Neem contact met ons op.

Medical marijuana is legal in 20 states and the District of Columbia, but there are still use cases that are very controversial, like medical marijuana for children. Some claim it's a wonder drug for epilepsy, severe autism, and even to quell the harsh side effects of chemotherapy, while others decry pumping marijuana into still-growing bodies. We went to the small town of Pendleton, Oregon, where medical marijuana is legal, to visit Mykayla Comstock, an eight-year-old leukemia patient who takes massive amounts of weed to treat her illness. Her family, and many people we met along the way, believe not only in the palliative aspects of the drug, but also in marijuana's curative effect—that pot can literally shrink tumors.
